Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Made a little progress today, board member bagged74 stopped by today and helped me with a few projects. It's good to meet the members of the board!

We got the heater hoses on and ran the plug wires (not real happy with the turn out but what can you do?) I got my exhaust bends in late Friday so when the muffler shows up I can start making the exhaust. I'ts getting real close to starting this thing back up and taking a test drive

Here's some pic's as promised.....

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Worked a little on the truck today but I'm still waiting on the muffler that I ordered to come in so I can start my exhaust.

I installed the new steering wheel to get an ideal (vision) of what look I'm trying to get...... we'll see what happens on this

I bodyworked the radiator hoses so that they are now ready for some primer and some more sanding.

The real time was spend on Ken's (N2TRUX) truck, it's now up and running, can't wait until it's finshed it's "break in" period!

I also got a new digi for my b-day this week so who knows what the pix will look like if they even work.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

This weekend was the Decatur swap meet but it rained and rained hard so we stayed at the shop. I work on the exhaust most of the day and at the end Roger had some pitty on me and helped me get it all lined up and tacked in place. Now all I need to do is pull it all back down, weld it up and sent it off to get plated. I took a lot of shots but they are real boring so I'll only show a few.

Must be nice to have a/c in your shop if that what that "vent" looking thing is above your truck. Looking good, cant wait to see it finished. Ken's motors is looking good too.

Yep, AC/Heat in the Fabrication, Assembly, Paint and Body buildings. This is one area the owner doesn’t skip on, so where a little spoiled in this area

Ken’s holding out on the motor pictures, it’s done and been driven. Roger is doing a few items to finish it up and I need to paint the top of the cowl and she’s ready to go home.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Today I finished welding up the exhaust so it's now ready to dress down and send out for plating. I also got my carb back, it's not the exact color I wanted it plated, OK it's no where near what I wanted but I'm just happy that I finally got it back! We went ahead and took the bed off so I can start "cutting" the inner fenders on the bed for more clearance. While it's off I think I will go ahead and paint the underside.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Why are you going to cut up your wheeltubs? Do they rub when you lay out the bags or is it because of the offset of the wheels that you ordered?

I'm not cutting the wheeltubs, I'm cutting the metal that runs from the fender lip to the wheeltubs (if that makes any sense). When I lay it all out the top of the tire hits this area. If I cut it all out and make it go straight up and then connect to the wheel tubs it shouldn't touch. I'm more or less just being anal......but I can't stand to have a dirt mark on my tires after I raise it back up....... OK plus I really want to paint the underside!

#1- That's not what your wife calls it,
but it is why you have incredibly nice projects.

#2- Ok, you are anal, but come on out and say it.
This will let the rear down an inch more

#3- We have the correct answer.....

Shouldn't you be unlocking your thread or something?

I wonder what a RamJet can do to KDW's? I might have to leave work and run out to the shop to see

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

Been slow these last few weeks because of the 12-16 hours that I've been working, by the time I get to the shop I just stand there. Anyway, I'll stop crying..... I blasted and painted the rear bumper brackets and installed my new bumper. I also re-routed some air lines due to the fact I routed them in the bumper bolt holes.....real smart. I also traced down a slow air leak that I had in the front bags. I also got the bed over to the fab building so I can now modify the tubs and paint the underside. I've just about got this down to the final details before I put it back together and call it done for the summer...... yeah right!
