Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Hey DRTYRAT30 thanks for posting the pics of the trans humps, I wasn't sure which one I had, now I know.....high hump. I'd never seen the difference before. I'll be doing the Porterbuilt thing with mine so it looks like I've got the right one. Love your build just wondering who will get done first, you or Delmo?? You guys are FAST!! I used the same breather on my quickchange too!

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Nice Work! What do those PB hinges use to support the hood up? Are there gas shocks under the dash or something? What kind of wheels are you going to run? I really love what your doing with this truck!

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Porterbuilt has the gas strut option for the 67-72 hinges and i think soon he will have them for 60-66 trucks. The ones i have will require a hood prop.

I am having a tuff time deciding on wheels, i might go with two sets/styles

1. 15x7 painted smoothies with WW's and bullet caps. Like this pic but with bullets caps

2. 22x8.5 Boss 330's in chrome just so i can use the PB kits to the fullest.

I'm REALLY impressed with the quality of your work, it's SO clean and I'm most impressed with the finish quality you get out of rattle cans. The black looks to have a little sheen to it, sure you're using flat?

Sorry to digress on the overall build but your garage looks really clean and organized. When you're removing all the gunk using scrapers, chemicals and wire wheels how are you protecting the floor because it looks pretty clean. Or do you just let the crap fall and what are you using to clean it up afterward?

Thanks. Well the can says flat, i think its just the lighting. That Rustoleum Pro is a quality product. Plus i sand, prep & prime, makes a differance.

I layed down tarps under the truck while i cleaned the frame. I'm a little OCD when it comes to keeping my garage clean.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Got the rear brake lines done. I went with a 12" AN 3 hose, seems to fit well aired down & up. Now its time to start bleeding and chasing leaks.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Nice work on the lines. Does Nate put the brake tabs on there or was that your handywork? I found those tube wrenches really handy for chasin down the leaks. You can really crank down on those things, in case you didn't know this. lol. Keep up the good work I love reading the updates!

Looking good! What kind of brake line are you using? Is that the napa hand-bendable stuff? How about the flaring tool, what brand?

Thanks

Thanks, I used pre-made line that comes in different lengths from a local parts house, and a eastwood brake line bender. Its not super preety but it looks good. Line is all 3/16"

Drtyrat, Would you mind pointing out which of the Eastwood tube benders you used from the link I post here?

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Watched the Eastwood video and these look so easy to use. Very impressed with your work so if they're good enough for you they're certainly good enough for me. Ordering!

Anything special you used for line mounts or just the std rubber-lined sheet metal type?

Just the rubber clamps in 3/16" and a pop-rivet. They worked very well for me.
