Re: 56 Cameo build

I haven't posted for a while. but wanted to keep up to date with my build, so here goes. installed the radio between the seats and put the antenna under the right bedside. made a speaker box between the sun visors so I can listen to the tunes. Also had the exhaust run out the back which made a huge difference on the noise in the cab and the sound outside. I have had a fiberglass bed cap that I cut to fit before I had the truck painted so now is time to finish it. It will add some weight to the rear so may help the ride and will be good if I take any trips to store gear. Happy with the results so far. The cap will fit inside the fenders so you won't really see the cap when looking from the side. Sorry for the upside down photos, but can't figure out how to get them right. Any suggestions?

Re: 56 Cameo build

My apologies if I left anyone hanging waiting to see the finished cap. Very happy with the outcome. I think it looks nice nd it helped the ride tremendously.
Next project is the rear bumper. I scored on new chrome ends so now I have a local sheet metal fabricator working on the center section, so hopefully won't be too long.
What questions did you have on the seats?

Third row seats out of an Escalade. Very happy with the fit. Comfortable and lots of room . FYI, I am about 5' 10".

Re: 56 Cameo build

I scored on a set of chrome rear bumper ends almost 2 years ago and finally got a local metal fab shop to bend a center section for me because they're not available anywhere else. They actually gave me 3 and they are the same gauge as the ends. and the one I am showing is not the best. Maybe by spring I'll have a real bumper. Tbrown

Re: 56 Cameo build

I see you have one piece windows. I’m thinking of doing the same to my 57 but I have bear claw latches and I heard it won’t work. How Hard was the install? Also are you running stock door hinges?

Re: 56 Cameo build

Yes Barnfind I do have one piece windows with bear claw latches and I am very happy with them. I also have stock hinges. I bought a kit from a guy that bought it from Brothers years ago. After installing the kit that was barely workable I saw a post on here from blackdiesel that instructed you how to improve on the kit. Much better. Then the guy that helps me with the hard stuff went to work taking the tracks loose inside of the door and made a window that completely fills the opening and goes down the whole way with the bear claw latches in place. Not an easy fete. My point is you can make a one piece window work but it takes a lot of work and ability to make it perfect. I hope this helps. Good luck. Tbrown

Thank you for the response. It does help a bunch. I never could get an answer on the on the one piece and bear claws. Now I know. I really like the look of the one piece. I have the vents
Windows in my 62 and 8use the because of no ac. This 57 will have it so I don’t see me needing them. Thanks for the response again!

Greatly impressed looks right with that bed cover and I’m usually not a fan of those on these or the square bodies. Looks like your having fun and getting to enjoy it
