Thats one of the best things about this website, you can get lots of ideas and alot of help. That's what I did and still do. My 68 had and still has alot of rust, that is the main reason this build is taking a while to complete. If I would have started with a rust free truck it would be done by now but that was not in the cards when I started. Post up some pictures of your trucks I would love to see them. Good luck on your 68 build, let me know if I can be of any help.

Nice build can't wait to see it done. Did you have your exhaust done or did you do it yourself ?

Thankyou, my father and I did the exhaust ourselves, it took some time but worked out pretty good. I used a 2 1/2" hotrod kit from Speedway

Your truck's turning out nicely! I've got spintechs for mine as well, went a little quieter though with the 3000xl series. They sound awesome, and the best part is I'm the only one around who has a set on my truck...

Yeah when I first went with the Super Pro Streets I had a stockish small block so I figured I needed a more aggressive muffler, now I have a cammed big block lol, can't wait to hear what it's going to sound like.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I also started on redoing my exhaust as my BBC collectors sit lower and farther back in the frame than my SBC collectors did. Have the passenger side figured out, just have to do the driver side now. Sorry forgot to take pics of it.

CPP front shock relocators? How do you like 'em? Foresee any problems with inner fender clearance?

I got them from performance online, I plan to autocross this truck a little so I wanted a stronger mounting point for the shocks plus I wanted to run a little longer shock for better travel and dampening. I don't know if I will have any interference with the inner fenders, I haven't gotten that far lol. If I do I will just modify them to fit, I feel like that's all I keep doing is modifying things to fit lol

I cheaped out a little and bought the Summit Racing knockoffs instead of the gm ones lol, you can't really tell the difference.

That's funny cause before I switched to my big block I was constantly looking at your build thread drooling over your big block. I think yours looked amazing before you had to tear it back apart, so I know no matter what you do it will look great. I'm very excited to see your truck get finished as you are a lot closer than I am and your build as well as the many other great builds inspire me to get mine done. Thankyou for all the compliments.

Hey Keith
Do you know how long your drive shaft is or how long it should be?

Have somebody that is really good at putting puzzles together lol. I am lucky enough to have my father help me with this build and he can practically build anything. I liked the hot rod kit cause it came with all the straights and bends you will need. You will also need a welder and to remember to measure twice and cut once lol or you will run out of pipe. Also don't change your motor once your exhaust is completely done so you have to change your exhaust, oh wait that was me lol. Seriously though i probably could have had a shop do it for a little more than what I have into it. Maybe shop around and bring some pics of your undercarriage so the shop has an idea of what your looking for. $500 seems a little high to me. Good luck with it Hollywood.

Sounds to me we have a lot in common with our builds doing things twice.
Shopping around for a better price, what a concept .lol...

I forgot that you had to get your truck painted twice. After thinking about it I probably have about $400.00 into my exhaust between the universal hotrod kit, spintech mufflers, stainless clamps and shipping charges so $500 for somebody else to do it doesn't sound that bad.
