Finished the pass. side airbag cut out and remounted the spindles/wheels, I set her on the ground aired out and the crossmember just sits on the ground, so I am going to need a 2" taller bag cup. this is fun! Also centered the engine/trans and tacked the frame mounts to the crossmember.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Picked up an S10 drive shaft, had it shortened and installed it this afternoon. Took it out for a couple of test drives around the block and shifts nice plus it is a lot quieter then the old SM420.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Since I will be installing my new Fenton Headers and Offy dual single bbl intake soon (gonna have lots of question when that happens - lol) I decided to paint the Oil Filter Canister and move it from the intake manifold to the inner fender wall. The smudges are only reflections in the silver paint - - - that Ace Hwd paint sure held up good thru all my beating, banging, cussin' and fussin' !

I'm 8 screws short to have everything in place, but the bed wood is sealed, cut, and mounted. Still have to get the fenders widened but this will work for the time being.

Nothing, 64 Chevelle was feeling lonely and puked the heater core. I love old cars, 20 minutes to pull the heater housing (had it out 5 years ago so know the drill), $40 for a new core and probably 1/2 hour to get it back together.

My garage is a pit of darkness smelling of leather dye.
The Apache is still running strong but I can feel it's hatred for me as I force it to go around with out a bed.

The shame...

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

New fan belt, new thermostat, fixed heater hoses, drained radiator and filled with fresh 50/50 (starting to get chilly here in New England)... Now all I need is a little more money to fall from the sky so I can get the two brake drums I need to finally put this thing on the road again. Really want to do it before the snow flies!

Welded in bracing for the passenger side floor and measured up templets for the flooring. Anybody give me some placement measurements for where the shifter comes up through the floor on a T-5 trans.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Mark, I should finish this leather order by tomorow. I had "planed" to finish the bed this week but I need to address a new problem with the front brakes on the 59. Also I really need to get at the steering free lash so I dont go down the road fighting to stay in my lane. I want to take it on my first real trip in two weeks. A big party in Niland Calif AKA Slab City.

It seems like these things know when you have something else planed.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Tightened up my hood hinges. Was going to buy new ones but decided to fix my old ones instead. Most of the wear was in the arms that hold up the hood where the bracket bolts to the hood. With the hood hinges raised to the max you could move the front of the hood up several inches due to the slop in the pivots. I punched out the pins and drilled out the holes using a 1/2 inch bit. I made some new pivot pins, put the bracket back on and welded the pins in. I ground the welds down to make the brackets fit back on to the hood as there isn't much room there. The other pivots were tight but I heated them and peened them to be sure.
The hinges feel tight now so maybe with new springs they will hold the hood up better than before.

I made the pins out of 3/8th bolts. Just turned part of the head down to make the pivot and turned the body down to fit into the bracket, and cut them to length.

(s10 /51 chevy) Painting brackets and gas tank straps. Was going to pick up the 51 chevy, but trailer has a flat. Stopped by a shop to see how much it would cost to sand blast the suspension parts.Father /son project.
