Re: Finally got the beast home......

Some more pics. Going to hit it with a little sand tomorrow, throw some DP primer on it then back on the new chassis. Here's a picture of the old chasiss, it's looking a little lonely, .

Thanks! I've got more done on "Donkey" in a shorter amount of time than any of my projects. I really can't wait to drive it!

Puss N Boots is the name of the cat. voiced by Antonio Banderas.

Re: Finally got the beast home......

Almost have the cab sandblasted. Should have it done by tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Throw some primer on and back on the chassis until I'm ready to finish it.

Re: Finally got the beast home......

I can't remember the last time I saw a dash that wasn't all hacked up around the radio or holes where misc. items were attached to the dash over the years! Looking good. What color are you thinking of going with for the exterior? At this pace, you will have it and the 'burb ready for Cruisin' the Coast!

Later Rob!

Thanks Dean. The dash and firewall are pretty incredible. It's got some bumps and bruises elsewhere and a little rot in the floors, but it has less rust issues than the Burb did. As far as being ready by Cruzin the Coast, , maybe next year. I'm leaving for NM the first week of August, so progress will come to a screeching halt for a while, . But, I will have them both at a good stopping place.

Re: Building the Beast, aka Donkey!

Rob, That is on its way to being one very cool ride! I can't wait to see the finished product. Quick question, Why didn't you use the original frame and cut it down? By the way, good luck on the move. Lane

Thanks Lane. The original frame was a long wheel base 3/4 ton frame that had already been stretched under the cab (the frame was cut in half and 33" were added in). This seemed like the strongest way to do it, only one 45 degree cut on each side and it's already set up for a 6 1/2' bed.

Re: Building the Beast, aka Donkey!

I've been working with Stan at ECE on a bolt in crossmember for the 4L60E to go along with their 5.3 motor mounts. Here's the first proto-type. It uses factory mounting holes and the 4L60E one stud rubber mount. Hopefully Stan can get the headers figured out with Sanderson and then they will be able to sell a 5.3/4L60E install kit, .

I haven't quite decided. I'm pretty sure it will be a two tone, with the top of the cab white and some other color. Considering a dark green with no metal flake in it.
