Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Aw crap, hope I don't have the same problem since mine is a SWB coil spring truck. I don't remember the cross-member being like that though. Now I am gonna wonder until I get home tomorrow night.

Any updates Dave? I pm'd you. Thanks

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

The crossmember is crooked from the factory. Pissed me off. I went to try and put a fuel cell in and it didnt fit...Fits on the drivers side, but not the pass.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Here's a link http://www.classicperform.com/Store/.../6372AGTBS.htm to a pic from CPP, their tank is just like Dave's, only the top rear corner is angled to fit up under the rearmost crossmember, allowing you to clear the angled crossmember that holds the track bar.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I'm guessing it's probably more cost effective for me to just find someone local to 'adjust' my tank. Shipping this thing back and forth again would be expensive.

If you would like us to do the adjustments. you pay shipping back to us we will adjust the tank for a very small charge just to cover consumables and we will pay shipping back to you. here is an overview of what we will perform if you decide to go this route.

we will notch off the rear corner as much as possible. Reweld, pressure test and ensure the tank is safe and still covered under your warranty. Repackage and ship to you as fast as we can to reduce your downtime.

if you do decide to go to someone local and have your tank adjusted please understand that i can no longer warranty your tank.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dammit, I measured mine and it is the same as BossHogg's. I guess I will look into moving the rear crossmember back or replacing it with a straight piece. I wasn't expecting to have to do anything like this. I should have measured, but I assumed since the tank is designed for 67-72s it would fit.
Thanks for the update Dave.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave, what would be the price on a EFI setup tank now? I hate I missed the group buy. Also what is the expected build time on this, just a ballpark figure at the longest? I'm trying to get my 67 running/driving in time for my wedding in September. Also mine is a coil, swb, so I may need the same angled modification as BossHogg.

Thanks,
Garrett

Wow sorry man i just saw this post.. we are running at 7-10 business days but it seems that EFI tanks take longer for whatever reason. so i would say 2-4 weeks.

give me a call anytime if you have questions.
