Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replumbed the fuel cell... Went from -8 to -6 bulkhead...had to make a couple of aluminum washers to fill the 3/4" hole in the fuel cell.

Also started making some fuel line brackets out of aluminum flat stock. They hold 2 3/8" aluminum fuel lines from the notch back to the fuel cell. Then the ones in front of the notch will be 2 3/8" fuel lines and a 3/16" brake line.
Originally saw how to build these on the HAMB forums...but someone has a write up here in the FAQ.
Pics later

Kinda hard to get the 3/8" holes right in center of the 2 pieces of aluminum. But they will work fine. The long bracket needs to get cut down. It was the first one...trying to get the spacing right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Went to the body shop to tape out the separation for the two-tone paint scheme and the colored stripe that runs between the two colors the inside is painted, the jambs are done, and the gaps are set in stone! The guy doing all the body work is incredible! I had some pretty good rust issues on my (top) lift-tailgate... enough to have me lookin for another one. He cut it all out, treated the inside of the tailgate with rust arrest liquid... and then welded all new metal in there, and prepped and painted.... looks better than new!

I am stoked it comes home this weekend!

Threw an entire demolished bathrooms worth of sheet rock, tile and concrete in the back! Love those extra leaf springs.

Got my blower hole cover in the mail! Just need to fix a spot where old blower seal started to rust the firewall a little... didn't go through, just a little flakey. Then, my plan to get rid of all options will be complete.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Stuffed the '71 in the garage and jacked/blocked it up. Sprayed everything with PB blaster that I think I needed to for the axle removal. Chased a wiring issue with backup lights. Keeps popping fuses.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

This took longer than a day but I had "help" from Mother Nature

Anyone who saw my truck at GotG knew I was catching up with a "parking lot" water pump change and leak...chased it through a few quickie attempts until Sunday I took everything off the front of the motor, then the rain started falling hard and drove me inside. I cleaned, prepped and spray painted everything (not show quality, just better and lighter without the crud) and suffered through primer up my sinuses as well as nothing drying under the humidity then when it stopped raining I cleaned, prepped and sprayed the front of the block before reassembling everything on Tuesday.

No leaks finally and I identified my next project--the balancer needs to properly removed and reinstalled. Also discovered the replacement radiator I have to go in, has been a 4-row all along. Maybe I shouldn't do things to the truck anymore, I keep finding more things to do!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Kev0519, That looks sick!! Nice work!

Today was the day my Offy intake finally went on, swapped the throttle assemble from rod to cable, ripped off the water intake and recent power steering project parts off to get them all painted and ready for re-install.

Should be able to get the new gas pedal set up and fire it up on monday (Long weekend!)
