Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
Got any better shots of the painted wheel? Like a streight on shot or better yet, on the truck? I'm liken' the look.

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
I'll get some later today. I'm going to the tire shop to have the tires mounted and I'll post a few. Yeah I figured I'd make them resemble the old Halibrands. (but cheap status!) haha!

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
I'm diggin' the grey centers. I've always wanted to try that, so thanks for showing it off. I'm a huge fan of Halibrands, except for the price.
If there's any way, try to find an 8" rear wheel. It'll fit the -275s a bit better, IMO. I like where you're heading with this, though. To me, the big/little look says "Hot Rod".

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
That combination looks fantastic. I'd suggest take your time getting used to making turns or doing any hard braking. 165x15’s were designed for VW’s and other small cars weighing nearly half as much as 60-66 trucks. The cool factor can be worth it, but the handling may be dramatically different than what you're currently familiar with.

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
I'm anxious to see the final results!! I've been kicking around many options and slotted mags are a definite one.

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
DAMN IT! Not gonna work! I need at least -4" or -4.5" back spacing! These mags are standard 3" back spacing. Duh! I got so excited that I didn't think of this! Back to the drawing board. Damn it looks tough too!

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
Man that's a bummer!!! Looks sweet. As for finding some with that deep of back spacing, good luck. I can't recall finding any that had more than a 4" BS.
Are you running an axle out of a '71+ truck or did you keep the stock housing and put axle shafts in? The '71+ axles are wider.

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
It would be a shame to not be able to use those wheels. They look great.
American Racing does make a 15x8 with a 5x5 pattern and 4.5” backspace – part number A695873 in the Ansen Sprint series. Not sure if the extra inch in width would still cause a problem on the fender side or not. http://www.wheelsforless.com/detail.aspx?ID=2520 They also list a 15x7 with a 4” offset – part number A695773. Perhaps if you could find the new wheels on sale somewhere they might cost less than swapping the rear axle. Last edited by markeb01; 01-25-2012 at 11:24 PM. |

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
This is the way to go. How much do you need them to move in?

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics
Dude you're killing me! Stop with the artsy fartsy pics and how about one of the wheel, straight on, close enough to see the full wheel and tire without anything else.
Want to get an idea of how it looks straight on and not from an angle. Thanks!!! and looking good.
