Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

I am going to get them out of Atl. but once the new design is available I hope to be able to get several sets. I use to have a shop in B'ham that specialized in custom wheels and Hot Rod Rice so I still have accounts with several companies in the business.

I'll keep you updated.

What size & finish? If I am doing something wrong, please tell me as I don't want to get removed from this website.

I'd be looking at 20x8.5 and 20x10 and haven't decided on finish. Pricing on the various options might help me decide.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

The backspacing will change on a few of the wider applications...i.e x10". That's why I recommended trying to get hands on the old style ones for the rears because they are a bit "deeper". The narrower will have the same backspacing, but the lip of the wheel will be smaller because the center of the wheel will be moved outward to compensate for the additional mounting pad thickness.

This information is subject to change as this is being relayed second hand.

Cheers,,

Ed

Knowing that these are in the process of being reworked for proper fitment on our trucks, and knowing that they're supposed to be ready in a couple of weeks, why would you order now?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Yeah Im gonna wait and see if these wheels get retooled before buying, I spoke with the salesman and he said that on my 1996 c1500 the 20x 8.5 will work with center cap if I run a 1/4 in spacer Is there any new info from boss about these wheels? I have been looking for a wheel similar to this for months in 5x5 and have been unable to find something I like,
can you guys suggest some similar style wheels that will tuck, Im just getting frustrated with this whole wheel thing

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

If your salesman confirms that they will fit and will take them back if they don't fit...give it a try. I spoke with the SE Manager again Tuesday morning and they are still projecting that they will be ready by the end of the month. I would recommend waiting as the new design isn't suppose to need a spacer. I tried the old design on my '87 w/ the HD brakes (same size rotor as the '92 up 1500's) and it wasn't even close. It was going to take machining the wheel, the rotor, and a spacer. I wasn't going to go through all of that.

I would not count on them taking them back. My wheels have not even been run and they told me "NO RETURN" even though they had a Fitment Guarantee on their website which has now seemed to have disappeared

As an Eagle wheel dealer I have had these wheels and there are major conflicts with the caps and bore area on the wheels even on the newer 88-98 models they were supposedly designed for. Also the back spacing is to deep for the older trucks but using billet spacers will eliminate both problems and they are an awesome looking wheel.

Which is exactly why they're being redesigned, due to be released in a few weeks.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

spoke with my dealer in portland Or. and seattle Wa. and they both gave me the same answer of around the end of the month or middle of next month. he also told me that there are only 17 sets of the "old" style left and they are "ready" for a new shipment of wheels. he told me that once they make revisions they will not make the "old" style anymore. and if one or two were the old style after recieving then to send it back on their dime.

WE CAN ONLY WAIT...
