I'm helping my wife with our two other little ones and getting things for her/changing diapers/etc..

Congrats on the New Arrival, You know she will want the keys to that new project in about 16 years. I have 5 Kids and my Youngest is 20 (Still Living at Home and going to College). I know you've probably heard this but make time in your schedule for those kids because it goes by So Fast. God Bless you and Your Family. How's your Wife doing?

Congrats on the duaghter.

As for the welding question posed earlier, you should be using a shade 10 shield glass. if your using an auto dark helmet with adjustments set it no lower than 8 1/2. Many Novice and beginning welders "stare" at the arc (the actual brightest part) of the weld, you actually need to be watching the puddle edges and everything else going on around the "bright spot". Welding is a art that takes plenty of practice, and welding thin stuff is harder than the thick stuff in many ways. Have fun and good luck

Thanks. I definitely make time for them. I've been out of a full time job since late january so they've had tons of time with me...I coached my 6yr old's T-ball team and will continue to do everything like that I can as they grow.

Thanks and I certainly feel blessed. My wife is doing great. Thanks for asking. Much better at this point than with the first two c-sections. Coming home today at 2pm!

Thanks and thanks for the info. I was trying not to stare at the arc so I could see the edges of the metal around it and move the wire to those...I know it will take some practice and that's what I'll do the next time I have the opportunity to be over there (practice while he works on something else and let him do all the welding for now since he's faster and better )

I'm back and forth on front ends for this project but leaning towards a 67-68 front end. I already have the steering wheel for it

Any opinions???

Also...paint color....

my top choices are

satin black
satin blue
dark factory color green (gloss)
rootbeer brown color (gloss)

so as you can see...my color choices are all over the place

I would love to have a 67-68 front end at some point. Bradley, who did he original design on these trucks definitely got it right and reluctantly changed the front later. I particularly like it when the front grill surround is painted white, which would look killer with any of the colors youve listed.

Go satin blue. I'm leaning toward satin dark green on US Tom.

I'm 99% on the 67-68 front end...it's the only one I haven't owned on a truck yet

I would paint the roof and grill surround white with any color I do. The truck has the cab paint divider trim (dented-but I have several nice pieces to choose from )

I guess great minds think alike. I was thinking about the same color combo, flat blue with white. But I wanna do the 67-68 roof. You know just the roof painted to the trim but not down the door and A pillar.

Actually....we think more alike than you think

I wouldn't paint the door or a-pillar either...the pic is just a truck I saw to show the general idea...

I am also thinking chrome bumpers front and rear instead of painted white...but we'll see how the budget holds for that

I definitely like the white grille and will do that with the 67 grille...

still up in the air on the bumpers...I think it will come down to wheel choice (what I find cheap ) that will determine the bumpers.

I may try to paint the spare 69 grille I have in the garage.

Either way you go, it oughta look pretty bad a$$!

On a little bit of a side note, The blue on that truck looks a lot like the blue on the blazer you had/have, almost like it had a satin clear.

Second, it's been a lot of fun reading your progress on the truck. I'd been checking it every week or so, and now that we're settled down here in New Orleans, I've had a chance to read all the way through it. As much as I wish I could have kept it, I'm glad you're working on it, since I get to see pictures and updates all the time!

I know it's bittersweet to see a truck you have get finished...I sold a shortbed to brnagn and he took it to the next level and now I really regret selling it But he did a great job on it and I hope to do a great job on your old truck
