Re: Meet Ginger.
Here is a quick (and I mean QUICK) photochop of the tailgate and light idea I have for mine. It's pretty close to scale, I'm not sure I want that large of an emblem on the back, but the Ecalade is the only one that's flat. I might mod one to look more like the DTS.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I like it. But I do think the emblem is too big.

Re: Meet Ginger.
You should see it in person.
I was behind one for a bit in traffic when I got the idea. I am still playing with options, but I think its close.

Re: Meet Ginger.
OK, on the way home tonight I was behind an SRX. I think it's much more appropriate. Thoughts?

Re: Meet Ginger.
Honestly, I think the stock tail light combination would look better with that tail gate.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Yes, I like this one better. The circle could perhaps be a tad bigger. But either way, your first rendering was way too big for my taste.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Thanks, mine, too. I went with the DTS interior because I hated the Escalade interior, too. There isn't a whole lot I like about the Escalade, even though I am sorta building one.

Re: Meet Ginger.
The drivers seat has some wear, but the passenger seat is nice. Problem is I'll be sitting in them until Spring of '12.

Re: Meet Ginger.
Had a talk with Dave at Porterbuilt today and went over some of the build details. He will talk it over with Nate and get my parts into the queue. Should hear back on when he can get to it and what it will take this week.
I am as giddy as a school girl. He was almost as excitied as me.

Re: Meet Ginger.
No, no updates unfortunately. Been working hard on my tablet automation side project (that will go in the truck) and saving for my Porterbulit gear.
Right now I am torn between using the disc front/rear 5x5 setup I have now or swapping over to a 5x4.75 setup for Corvette/Cadillac OE wheel choices. Problem is I couldn't handle cutting up the Corvette and it's purchase put a dent in my budget. But I will be happy when I can chose what one I want to drive, too.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I have some much needed time off at the end of the month. I plan to get the center console built now that I have the tablet.

Re: Meet Ginger.
This project is dragging on for a lot longer than I wanted it to. But if I pull it off, it should be pretty cool.

Re: Meet Ginger.
So here is my motivation:
2008 Cadillac DTS (same seats as mine and same shifter I am using) 2000 Cadillac DTS (I like this shape better) Rough shape center console. Center section resting in place Fit With the wheel (not mounted) Tablet The video (Corvette ZR1 at Nurburgring) The outside will be wrapped in the same cashmere (tan) leather as the rest of the interior. The center section (when finished) will be the same wood grain as the wheel (water image transfered) and should tie in nicely. Once my shifter gets here, I can get it mocked up and the center section finished. Since I went with a center seat, I have no room to do the cup holders.

Re: Meet Ginger.
I am doing a wood strip on the glove box, the guade surround, as well as on the door in the inset. You can see the tweeter pod just below the wing window. I have a 6.5" mounted in the kick panel that sits into the vent hole.
In the dash where the radio should go will be my eq flush mounted so you only see the knobs.

Re: Meet Ginger.
The wheel I am using is from a 2008 CTS, not DTS like the rest of the interior. I looked forever for a 4 spoke DTS wheel, but never found one in the lighter tan, they were all dark (like the cocoa one in the pic). I actually like the buttons on the spoke of the CTS vs the button pods on the DTS. It's all Cadillac craziness

Re: Meet Ginger.
Thanks. I wish I had the resources to build it in a few months rather than FOREVER.
Here is a quick rundown of what I did. Started with a quick cardboard template of the side and bottom. Transfered it to MDF, cut and built a quick form. Then stretched fleece (the black stuff you see in the picture under the resin) to get the shape I wanted. Once I was happy with the shape, I used a few cans of resin and 3 layers of fiberglass cloth. front back For the top, I just used MDF to make the shelf, then used cardboard to get the shape. Then used the same fleece and 4 layers of cloth. Once I get my shifter, I can finish the top and use fiberglass filler to smooth everything out. Here's a tablet view from the drivers seat. The tablet will run everything. I have redundant systems for backup, but the tablet is the brains.
