Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

My hair and clothes are filled with rust dust and paint flakes from repainting the interior roof and rear panels.
Looks nice, though. Maybe a pic tomorrow.
I need to shower.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I was getting tired of the worn out 62 steering wheel. especially the turn signal switch. It seemed never to work right. So I broke down and bought and installed a new I did it steering column. One of the best things I did to the truck!

My goal over vacation was to finally finish the interior of 'Ol Blue. Just barely made it!

What part of California are you guys living in that you can keep a gun on a gun rack. Certainly not the part I live in.

I suppose your local laws may be different but as far as I know, an unloaded long rifle/shotgun in a gun rack with a lock is totally legal in CA. Mine has a cable that goes through the trigger guard and a lock behind the seat. The only thing I would worry about is theft and it is a reason to pull you over to make sure you're legal. I do live in a more rural area (Fallbrook) and there is an outdoor rifle range about 8 miles away in Rainbow. Burbank may not be as laid back.

If you have a DANA 44, you can get new Ring and Pinion at Precision Gear. I went from 3.92 to 3.23 does MUCH better. I replaced all the bearings on the shafts and cleaned the entire assembly.

I would, but I still tow with mine. I'm thinking about a 2 speed road ranger od or an NV4500.

I have been think of doing the same in my 62. I changed to the T5 and it is much better but I still think the rear end is holding it back. I can get 70 to 75 but its pushng it. How much better is those gears? Do you still have good take off and power? How good is it on the HWY?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I'm not a racer so I don't really gauge it like that, but with the 305 V-6 I needed to do it so I was not screaming at 3000 rpm at 65.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I finished up the latest work to bring the truck up to max reliability. Complete parking brake install. Swapped handle, cable, fabbed mid cable mounts, new rear cables, installed all the pieces inside the drums. Adjusted, it works perfectly. A nice convenience and safety add on.

Rebuilt the carb. Starts instantly now, lots more acceleration power. Bumped the timing a bit, too, while I was at it.

Good to have it running well.
