Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
My aftermarket inners didn't fit very well, had to enlarge and re-drill several holes. Especially the PS one that mated to an aftermarket fender, total pita.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Well I took another step backward today. The tilt column that I had bought had a bad turn signal switch in it. I took it out but I broke the hazard switch on the new one going in. Kinda figures. Crappy week. I have not put the drivers side inner fender on yet. Will be doing that tomorrow. Ordered a new turn signal switch which will be here next week.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
UPDATE: It has been a while. Work has been keeping me busy. I got the turn signal switch installed into the column. According to the guy at the shop the collar has to come off due to the fact that they replacement switches use a little thicker plastic. Not much just a little too much so that you cant get it in there without breaking the hazard switch

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Update again. Looks like either I got another bad switch or the guy messed up when installing it. The left brake light does not work. I tried with the original column I have with its switch and everything works fine. Time to make a phone call

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Made some more minor progress today. I got the drivers side inner fender bolted up. Next step is to get the column installed once I get the new turn signal switch in. I have one on order which should be here by Wednesday of next week.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Its time to update this thread. Still waiting on my turn signal switch to show up. Supposed to be here tonight. Looks like there was either a major run on them. I did get the truck started and it runs pretty good. I also got the new heater controls installed as well and the heater blows HOT!!!!. But as usual with this thread its 1 step forward and 2 steps back. My brake booster croaked on me. Looks like the rod on the inside snapped. Not sure how it happened but oh well. Getting a new powder coated black one on saturday. Thats the latest.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
I made some progress tonight even though it rained on me some. I started the truck and got the heater going. I also cleaned up the neutral safety switch (had paint on it wonder who did that and installed it onto the column. I put the column inside the truck. It is not hooked up to the intermediate shaft yet but will be this weekend.
I also managed to get the heat stove and pipe hooked up as well. I had to take out the dipstick tube to do it and dent the crap out of it in the process but I did it. Truck is running smooth once it gets going. I need a new booster though. Looks like mine is bad. Got one on order from a local shop. For another 30$ he said it will take it all apart and powder coat it for me. I pick that up on Saturday. Other than that I am waiting for my leds to come in so I can finish my dash. My new tach/vac lens came in 2 weeks ago and its just sitting there along with more parts saying hey come on now put us on the truck. Thats it for now. I will snap some pics tomorrow night if weather permits.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Since it was raining tonight I was not able to get pics however I was able to get out there long enough to remove my booster and my dash. My leds came in today. So I am working on that now. Pics tomorrow if it clears.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Ok at long last it is drivable. I started it up and drove it down the street a bit and parked it. It ran good but a little rough which could be because it has been sitting for a year. I have a load to take to the dump so tomorrow I will be doing that. Its about a 20 min run each way down the freeway so that should blow out any junk that is built up.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Ok here is the latest. I have replaced the intermediate tail light harness and now the reverse lights work. Now I am battling with the grant steering wheel to get the horn to stop staying on all the time draining my battery. Truck is running but I have not had the time to drive it anywhere yet. With any luck it will be going for a spin this weekend.

Are the leds in the dash a kit or did you wire them up?
