Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Heres the mock up of my door trim. Will be using it w/the sail panels and back trim i did above instead of the typical GMC trim. Kinda a marriage of both trim packages. The orange door is my pass donar. Will need some work on the bottom corner and it'll be solid. My original door would require bottom and reskinned, so it'll be easier. The blue door is my driver side donar and its a rust free door off the 61 mike & I bought for parts. Came off a 21,000 mile truck that got t-boned pretty fierce. It'll also convert me to the framed glass (which i plan to chrome). Ive always thought the chrome metal lined windows looked sharp. If anybody needs the trim mounting locations on the orange door or better pics of the part thats painted for the trim for reference, just let me know. Near as I can tell, neither door has ever been repainted. Ive posted on the general forum for the proper mounting locations for the window trim if anybody happens to know, please let me know. I just want to mount it properly.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Rainy day here yesterday, so was a good day to tear down the donar wiper motor & washer pump assembly. Got the wiper motor and washer cleaned up and ready to do the conversion. Switch, bottle and bracket installed. Just have to swap the motor/pump out and run the tubing from the pump to the bottle and nozzles. I have a single speed from the factory and am converting to a two speed w/washer option. Put a thread up to get some help on the wiring. Motor shows part # 5045342 Type E 12V Delco Appliances dated Jan 63

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

OK, got the hood picked up from Sharps, great looking hood and probably 20 hours less work involved than what I had in my original hood. Have two small areas to work on. Front driver side has a small dent/bondo (about 2"), and the front pass side has a little cancer (around 1.5" long). Rest of the hood is rust free. My current hood has issues along the entire front lip and needs work down both left & right sides/corners. Inner fender has one small area to reapir (around an 1" long), but thats ok, I have a rust free patch I pulled off another inner I had which will take most of the work out of the inner fender panel. He also gave me a tow bar, which needs a little work. I have some 1/4" steel plate that I need to work 2 - 2"x8" areas onto. No biggie. Also...will be going back this weekend for the rear half of the truck. Looks like I finally get to make my matching stepside trailor to pull behind the 63!!!

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Great for our neck of the woods. My OEM hood is great for a work truck or always an upgrade for someone with more bodywork or rust in theirs, but I try and go as solid as possible on the sheetmetal with as little bodywork as I have to do.

I did also get my Opti-Kleen bottle done and installed. The decal was simple and straight forward. Did the best I could to polish the glass. Its dated 1961, so it has a little wear, but not much. It never had a decal when I got it, and there are several different ones out there...I guess there were some changes in different applications (cars vs trucks and different years). But I went with the one that closest matches the other GM Accessories tins, bottles and boxes. Either way, came out good, is installed and put up some pics to show it off. I dont know exactly where the dealers installed them, but it does show as an accessory in the book. If anybody knows, Id like to mount it in the proper spot. It will just hold extra windshield washer fluid for the system.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Hey! Wonder if I could ask for a favor? I am working on getting a custom glove box emblem laser cut for Zane's Ride. Any chance you could send me some measurements of your Chevrolet Script glove box emblem, upper and lower case letter height overall length of script etc.? Posting the picture from page one of your thread.

Cool washer bottle BTW!

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Would it help if I sent one to you and then you mailed it back? Could be scanned if they have the right software. Or I can try my copy machine at work tomorrow. The base dimensions I put on a thread here awhile back...glovebox scripts I think.

And thanks on the washer bottle. I know its such a small thing, but just one of those neat old things that you don't see anyone or very often. I like alot of the smaller touches.

Another option would be to do a rubbing with a crayon or soft pencil. Just put a piece of paper over the emblem and wipe a crayon flat against the emblem surface. It will produce an exact size pattern you can take measurements from, and eliminates the risk of breakage in shipping.
