Re: building my first lowered truck

i chopped the top of the frame for two reasons. first being when i did my 3 link i mounted my lowers a fraction of an inch from the ground, so cutting the bottom of the frame would have put my lower links into the ground, lol. reason two is then you have to Z the frame that much more to lay out if you cut the bottom of the frame off. looks like about 1.25" would lay rocker. i do have a c20 so that may be different for you. ive also read that you can drop the body about an 1" without modifying the frame.

ignore the crappy welds, rear is getting redone

hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else

Re: building my first lowered truck

Thanks for the reply. That covers it perfectly. I actually am looking to lay pinch so it looks like an extra 3/4" is all I need. I'm planning on doing a z to match the front with the frame and will see what else needs to happed with the front end to lay it down. I've looked at your build more than once and it
s a detailed write up. Good Job

Re: building my first lowered truck

great build so far, defiantly interested to see the rest of the front build! I love the amazingly simple idea of the angled Z cut to slide the suspension forward the inch to center the wheels!

Re: building my first lowered truck

did some more forming on the Z today and threw on the suspension to stare at it.

the 2x3 under the tire and crossmember are to replicate the ground. lays 26" tall tire no problem. with the upper balljoint and bag maxed out it can lay on a 28" tall tire.

camber isnt to bad

thanks for the kind words. and no the bags are built to deal with odd angles. all you have to do when installing them it make sure the bag mounting surfaces are parallel to each other.

did some work today.

first i hacked off these things.

surface to transfer measurements.

tacked up

all tacked in and square. going to be a mission boxing that **** in.

are you planning on putting your steering gear, idler arm, and core support back in to see where you can add gussets?

then got the rest of the plates cut out.

tacked em all in

then i welded both sides all up

after that i set the bumper on and pulled it off the frame jig.

Re: building my first lowered truck

well i did a little bit of work on the frame. pulled the last bolted thing to the frame to clean it up and start sanding the entire frame. then after that is the front crossmember, going to be 1.5" square turned on edge with some plate gussets. also decided im building a tube core support.

I really like the rolled gussets. How long is your welding stinger?
