Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Time for a few more pics.
The engine was rebuilt just before the blazer came to me. I wasn't "frame off quality" in the looks department, so I cleaned it up and recolored it. The trans had also been rebuilt, so I just put in some fresh seals, and a pan gasket, and cleaned it up.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Adding more engine and suspension pieces. The more I looked at the tailgate, the more rust I found. Finally decided that a new one would be best. Hung new gate to check fit.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
A little welding and grinding for more precise fit. Out of the box, it is a really nice tailgate. It fit at least as good as the original,if not better!

Fit top rail and drill holes. Drill holes and fit taillight, and upper gate trim.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Fitting lower gate trim. I hung a woodgrain band on it, just to show Joel how good it would look! He said no, it wasn't stock. (I tried!) Finished metal work on right bedside. Mocking up lower side trim. I like to mock up any new parts, so I can drill or modify any holes before paint. It saves grief later!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
I don't know about perfect. I guess it depends on who's looking at it! It WILL be a nice blazer, that I would be proud to own. Joel said once, that it will probably be the nicest blazer that I have ever done. I told him yes...with the exception of mine! Of course mine will HAVE to be just a wee bit nicer, just because it's my own! LOL!
Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for looking!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
How difficult was it cutting off the outer bed skin from the new bedside? I've thought about doing that also

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Nice looking blazer. I am new to the to the site and am doing a frame off 72 jimmy 4x4. What product did you use on the under side of the body. I like the textured look and would like to do that with mine. Thanks.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
El Campo
Separating the new bedside outer from the inner, is as simple as drilling out spotwelds, and using a cutoff wheel, around the wheel well. If you really move slow, it might take all of 30 minutes. LLH Jimmy I used undercoating sprayed on with an undercoating gun. I usually prefer the way it looks from a spray can, but on this blazer, I was trying for a more original (rough) look.
