Hey thanks Johnc, the most damage at my family's house was downed tree limbs. There was many around here that were much less fortunate. Thanks for checking in.

I got my spindles finished up today! But I ran into another problem, now my tire hits the a/c blower. I guess one step forward two steps back.
What do you guys think I should do? I want to keep my a/c but I also don't want to spend $1200 on a vintage air. Thats probably as much as I've got in this truck. Lol any input is helpful.

i guess the question would be .....does the a/c work? if it doesnt work just get rid of it and shave the fire wall....but if it works and you want to keep it than modify it to where you move it out of the way im gonna look for some pics i have somewhere on my old computer and it has ideas on how to modify it and ill post some for you maybe that will give an idea....

Ok now I think I solved my a/c problem!!! I went down to a smaller diameter tire. (I know it's just a temporary fix unless I keep the rallys forever) I originally had a 75 series tire, but first tried a 50 series tire, and it was just about 4 inches shorter than the original. ( which is wayyyyy to small) then I tried a 60 series tire and it's only about 1.5-2 inches shorter total. And it left me with about 3/4" clearance between tire and blower.

But then I ran into a new problem... My LCA hits the ground way early, and not like you'd think. My LCA's are djm but they are made for drop coils, and not meant to be this low.*


The tire in the picture is the 50 series.

So I think I'm just going to remove the recess where the bag is at and just put a flat plate in the bottom of the lca.*
Equivalent to like 1.5" cupped stock arm.

Btw I have no idea if the a/c works or not. The entire time I've owned the truck, it has never had an engine in it. So I just have to hope it works when I hook everything up

weld the plate from the bottom of the LCA or the tubing that way you dont loose any inches of drop.... it looks like the bag goes down pretty deep into the control arm so you should be able to raise the plate about two inches higher and that will give some clearance from the bottom.....

Ya drop arms and bags are not a good combo for that reason, may just have to mod those like said above.

Okay I got the control arms fixed.
Before:



I basically cut the recess out and welded a peice of 1/2" steel (this was done with several measurements and calculations lol)



Now i'm as low as can go without a "Z" or a dropmember. I'm laying the pivot part of the control arm!

No I'll get pics tomorrow though probably. i didnt get any added drop from the LCA mod i don't think. but i did get almost 2" more drop from the smaller tires.
tomorrow I'm going to try to find a place locally and hopefully get some airlines/fittings.

A "Z" isnt in the plans anytime in the near future. I'd like to get it as a functional vehicle before I come close to that.

I got like 95 percent of my air line plumbing done and tanks and valves mounted, just have to mount compressor, now I just have to finish that up and do lots of wiring.
Ive got my raised frame for my raised bed floor started. Tell me what you think.
It's raised 5 1/2".

It's been a really long time since last updated, but it's also been a really long time since I've worked on the truck. Lol
Here's what I've got done,
I got all my valves wired up to a temporary switch box,
I did not get my compressor wired yet so I'm just running off of my shop compressor.
I finished up all my air lines, except for my gauges,
Got a few new bolts for my 3 link,
Cut part of my trans crossmember so I could lay flat on the frame.
That's where I'm at now.

Here's the switch box (it's a 10 switch cut down)
I'd like to come up with something really unique for a switchbox eventually.

dude truck looks good..... i thought you been working on this thing and you were gonna surprise us with it all done.... just messing you with bro on a serious note tho i haven't done anything to my 77 either after the bodydrop...... but im planning to get some serious work done before the end of the year..... keep the updates coming im liking the satnce of the truck great job.....

im gonna start by saying im stoked on how much of this truck you are doing by yourself. ( much respect). however, the things that make these trucks unique and eyecatching are the small details. dont take this the wrong way but IMO angle iron belongs on the farm... some nice square tubing for your bed floor would be much cleaner and stronger on a modified truck.

take your time and do things the right way and you will be much happier in the end. i understand that budget constraints force certain sacrifices but your lower control arms could really use some work, take the time to smooth down the cutting torch markings, and make sure your welds are properly penetrated. suspension components are the most important when it comes to safety and integrity, it looks like the 1/2" plate you used for a bag mount could use some reinforcement where it welds to the tubing.

Again, these are just sugesstions from my personal past expiriences, i am in no way "bashing" your build, just simply trying to offer some advice. keep at it and i look forward to seeing this thing on the road!

I'm glad you said it. I wanted to say the same thing about the lower arms especially. Take your time, you can get really beautiful results with a cheap hand grinder by taking your time. And buy some wire wheels and clean that metal before you weld.

But these lower arms are a disaster waiting to happen.
I hope this pic wasn't the "finished" arm. It looks from the pic that the thin metal between the plate and the arm is taking all the weight.

Go with a Vintage Air setup if you have the duckets. The blower, evap and heater core are all contained in a unit that tucks inside the dash so you can keep the comfort and shave your firewall. Complete they run about $1600, and the actuators are solenoids instead of the cable/vacuum setup from factory so installation is almost plug-&-play. Just a suggestion.
