Sure is 3 more calls and nothing one time it rang for two minutes the next two it only rang for 20 seconds and went to voicemail.....

total nightmare with a set of 5 clutchs and steel at stock .080 and .090 thickness the assembly will come in .075in TO SHORT its like the machinest just guessed at how much he had removed and called it "good"

I am going to start calling around my town and seeing if anyone can remove the required mills to make this assembly fit a set of 6 like was claimed originally

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Because even with the six .077 steels it is still to tall after we calculated it I would need six .060 steels and six .075 frictions (or thereabouts) and it would end up costing me more then what the piston did in the first place at this point it's more about the fact that this company has blatantly lied

I opened a ticket with the EBay seller last night maybe that will get somebody in high gear

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Also big shoutout to lockdoc even though I managed to confuse him for a minute on what exactly my issue was he helped me sort out my ignition cylinder issue so now I have a key that operates both the door and the ignition and doesn't pull out of the ignition when in the on position! It's the simple things that count

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

I hope so too AD I told a co-worker with my timeframe in mind (4 months from now) the truck needs to be "done" enough to drive and do one nasty burnout out of our wedding (per my fiances wishes)

So in true nature of achieving that goal a friend of min and I hashed out what size tires I should run with my end goals in mind and for the rears we have decided on a 31*10.5R15 which are the only ones we managed to figure out because they were damn hard to find in a decent tread for what I needed a lot of sizes that tall were getting into truck treads and needless to say that did not fit my needs

Here's a post with a truck I found that has a similar ride height/stance to what I am looking for in mine thoughts?

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

I spent yesterday working on the transmission after I got the doors dropped off I found the 3rd accumulator spring broken in half so I got a new GM one coming.

Since I was then at a standstill with that project I started to tear into the doors a bit I got the glass out and they are now ready to be chopped (still deciding if I want to do suicide doors or not)

The doors look great I have two small rust holes and some dents much better then what I had before I would be willing to bet I will only have 10 hours into getting these doors chopped and ready to paint so that just saved a TON of time now if only it would stop raining!

Then today there was a small swap meet at the fair grounds in my town I wasn't able to find any parts I could live without but I did get some IRWIN Vise Grip Panel clamps and Sheet metal clamps to help with the doors for a good price.

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Thanks AD going for a little bit of pro street rod truck I think it will work out

I did a ton of body work on the passenger side door today I pulled and hammered out ever dent and payed my first coat of glaze over those areas

Some of the dents were deep enough that I had to drill a hole for a bolt to pull them but no big deal there but I did leave the rust holes and the drill holes for another day but as of now that doors is at the half way point in just 2 hours!

I will have some pictures tomorrow

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Between the Panel clamps and the flat sheet metal clamps I got yesterday at the swap meet I was able to make quick work of all the dented and dinged up edges which was nice for a change because normally that turns into a job for a 3lb mini sledge

Great job on the doors. It takes time but can be very satisfying.

Very satisfying I'm not going "show finish" I want to drive it and have fun (that's what they all say)

I got the new direct clutch piston in the mail and it is .100 thinner then the last one so it should work fine

Thanks Kees I try to atleast act like I know what I'm doing every once and awhile

I spent some more time on the doors last night welded all my pulling dent holes (is that what you call them?) and ground them then laid some mud on the low spots from the original coat from last night as well as some new found areas

Here's two pictures of the welds ground down I got things a little hot with the grinder. It feels like I haven't done this in forever and feel a little rusty I'm having a heck of a good time though doing it

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Back to my tire choice it has been finalized and I will be buying General HTS60 Grabbers

My tire dealer stocks them in my 31*10.5R15 and are rather cheap and don't look like a truck tire and are also available in 235/65R15 which should give a decent rake

So for those who care (anyone?)

Here is a side by side
https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...r15-31-10.5r15

This will give me a 65 mph RPM of 2173.5

wow that all sort of made sense and works together... right?

Thoughts?

Re: Project Orange Crush (57 3100)

Thanks Kim man that picture sure is bigger then I thought it was going to be

I figured I will need #14 on both sides
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=15

I am starting to get a little shaky on weather I will be able to finish this on time with the hours I need to work just to keep getting the cash together to do it I either don't have the time to work on the truck or I don't have the money to work on it

Oh well just keep moving forward day after day

If anyone has a door hinge patch they have available off a used cab pm me details....
