My school lets us get our senior projects approved at the end of your junior year, so you can have the summer to work on them. Kinda cool
At the speed you're moving, I know we can look forward to many great projects from you. You have a talent just waiting to be born!

They're never done--that's the fun part. And when they are done, it just means you're done with it, and it's time for a new one...

And it begins all over again.

Re: Senior Project Build

Thanks for the kind words guys! Im in Panama right now, but when I get home I have some new tires lined up for the wheels, then I can throw em' on there! They are Halibrand Gasser wheels, scored off ebay. And I wish I had started this truck years ago! I want it to be finished before I graduate in the spring. My best friends thinks hes hot stuff in his IROC camaro, because he just had a ZZ4 motor put in. I intend to build the Gen III motor and be able to show him who rules the parking lot!! Haha can't wait to get home and get to work. I hope I can get some funds together to buy all the stuff I need

Lucky,
If you haven't yet you might want to update to the heavier duty carrier bearing. The one in the pic rips apart real easy.
Just a memo you might want to know before you dump some some big HP into it.

Thanks for the heads up. I might need to get a whole new shaft made so I will cross that bridge when I get there.

Re: Senior Project Build

Senior Project Build Version 2.0
So I know I just finished building this truck(mostly) but am not happy with it so, you know how it goes, time to re-build. I want this to be a street/strip vehicle(mostly street) so here is the plan.

-Gen III 6.0L

L92 Heads

GMPP Carb Intake

850 Demon

Big Comp Cam

MSD Ignition Box

Trans-dapt Motor Mounts

-TH400

Possible rebuild???

4500 Converter

Possible rebuild of driveshaft

-Halibrand Wheels

-Mickey Thompson ET Streets 28x11.5x15

-FCG Aluminum Fuel Cell

-Holley Fuel System

-Stainless F Body Headers

I have already started gathering parts, will post pics and more details as I move into "Phase 2" of the build. Wish me luck!

Why not use the fuel injection system?

Re: Senior Project Build

I don't want to start the carb vs. injection BS on here, but these are my reasons:

-I am following the build that Car Craft did
-I think the carb will make more top end HP
-The tall plenum intake that the carb goes on will be perfect for my dream of a twin turbo system
-I think it looks way more badass than the truck intake, or even a LS1 intake.

Re: Senior Project Build

Didn't ask to start a debate either. Just curious as carbs on the LS truck motors is not a common setup. Uniqueness is worth it as well though
But... you know... the EFI LSx motors and twin turbos is a fun little toy:

Re: Senior Project Build

I see lots of carb setups on the 5.3 and 6.0 motors, why would it be uncommon? (Just curious, not being smartass)
And is that "little toy" yours?

Re: Senior Project Build

I'm talking as far as the builds on here and what I see at shows. Most guys just stick with the EFI. Though once into racing, I start to see more carb'd LS motors. Why carb'd LS motors uncommon? The ease at tuning the 5.3 and 6.0 truck motors brings some respectable power out of both power plants. That and the ease of drivability EFI brings is nice too (And also probably one of the motivations guys have to toss them into our trucks).

Nothing wrong with the carb'd LS motor, as it's seen on a larger scale much less often. Which by all means, is a good thing toward your truck I'd say.

I wish that little 2800hp camaro was mine. http://jalopnik.com/5113462/earths-r...too-much-boost

Re: Senior Project Build

Good luck buddy! I hope your build yields big numbers at the wheels and little ones at the strip.

PS...that Camaro is scary looking!

Yep Spiros' camaro is off the heazy, but its not an LSX motor! Those 88's are huge! Thanks for the support guys. I'll be home tuesday night and wil start posting more stuff right away. Mail and UPS service has been shut down in Portland due to the snow, but it should have started up by now

Muh bad, got that camaro mixed up with another car I was reading about last week. Never the less, it's nuts!

Lucky is there a reason why you want a DEMON over a Quick Fuels carb?
They will put together a carb for your engine spec and dyno it to make sure it puts out the correct numbers before they ship. Just a little 411 for ya to look into.

Re: Senior Project Build

C-10 KID that would be a nice carb for sure, and maybe eventually, I just know I can score a decent demon or holley DP off craigslist. I don't have a lot of money to put into this, how much would a custom quick fuel run?

I believe I can get one new for $580 in the cfm your looking for.
Also I was wondering why such a big converter?
When your ready to rebuild your T400 look up Mark from Metro transmission.
