Yes - I lowered it when it was new (had about 1500 miles on it).

That was 22 years ago so I don't quite remember how far but it looks like about 2 in front and 3 in the back. I'm thinking of going one more all the way around while I have it apart.

I have a grille!

This thing fought me the whole way, but I managed to git 'er done this weekend.

With the installation of the grille that means that everything forward of the b pillar on the exterior is done!

Next, it's off to the paint shop for the box, hopefully within the next day or two.

The grille itself was used, purchased from ScottH (thanks again, Scott). I sprayed it with Duplicolor Argent silver (FM149), along with the headlight bezels. I reused his parking lamps and stainless, with the exception of the center bars (new) and I also replaced the stainless around the grill opening.



I repainted my original bowtie while I was at it, retouching the black border around the chrome and then the "gold/yellow" in the center



This shows the center bars, painted body colored (Duplicolor red WA 7475, code 72).

Did you repaint the center trim also and what kinda paint did you use on the gray

Yes - I painted the red inside the grille center pieces with Duplicolor GM388 (WA7475, code 72).

The silver in the grille and on headlamp bezels is Duplicolor FM149 Argent Silver, which is the same as the wheels.

hey, i was wondering when you had the cab and front clip painted you left them attached to the chassis right? how hard was it to not get the chassis and fender skirts w/ overspray? i'm just brain storming here... i'd like to get the underside of the cab w/ a fresh coat of paint on mine but i know i'll have to do some assembly in the paint booth for the clip, cab, and bed to get an even spray w/ the metallic flake paint i plan on using...WA-301N Red Jewel Tint Coat (Tri-coat Red)

i'm thinking about doing the work to the fire wall, floor boards, and door jams, spray and reassemble the cab to the chassis... and go from there.

Yes - cab and front clip remained on the chassis. The fuel tank (and shield) caught the most overspray (pretty much full blast), in the vicinity of the cab corner. Across the back of the cab and the front bumper brackets caught just a little bit; very little inside the wheel houses. I wasn't too concerned because I knew I was going to hit them with chassis black when done, anyway.

I recommend you do the interior and door jambs first (before exterior paint), because it is easier to mask off. I didn't get it done in time but - on the other hand - I now know what (exterior) color I need to match on the interior and jambs. I don't foresee any problem if you were to do the firewall and floorboards before exterior paint.

Pulled the turn lamps, windshield wipers, door locks and door handles and "off we go"....









It's supposed to be done in a week, so I will check back in and let you all know how it went.

I'd love to know how you got that ding on the left side of your box? There is an identical one on the side of mine. Since I can't get to it from the back side I guess I'm going to have to use a slide hamer with a screw end on it to pull out the dent.

It wasn't there in 1991 when I sold it to my Father-in-law...



Poor little truck - there wasn't a straight panel on it when I got it back. There were even dings in the hood and roof (...either it went through a hail storm or he tied a deer up there. Stranger things have happened).

there is also a gun that welds a rivit type head to the sheet metal then attach a slide hammer for the pull. leave all the rivits on until the end and grind them off w/ no holes. just a heads up...

I think that's how the body shop fixed my doors (judging by the little weld spots that you can see from inside the door).

Nice truck. I'm always happy to see another box being put back together.
I have a question and I may be in the wrong spot, but is there anyway to figure out the old MSRP or get another sticker for the glove box????
