Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Thanks guys !!!! As I stated before, this truck will be driven by Jon. And we've used a nice mix of replacement parts and old repaired/restored parts on this build. So if something gets f'd up... no big deal..repair it again and move on. We are getting the lower seat cushion re-padded and I took the back cover off so we can do the same to that cushion. I wasn't happy with how the new cover looked loose.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
More pix. Got the lower seat cushion back from Marquarts. Jon and I installed the very warm seat cover. Fits like a glove. Test fit the right wfront wheel well.... not too bad, just a few holes modified.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
I wasn't happy with the fit of the seat back cover, so I took it off and ran it over to the upholstery shop. They steamed the old foam and added 3/4" padding to the surface, then I added a faux leather rear cover so the foam isn't visible.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Jon and Greg and I were very busy today. Greg is the engine builder that is teaching/helping Jon build/blueprint his engine. I was busy unbolting the engine mount stands, transmission shift bracket, sway bar and brackets. Then I painted the front frame rails, inside and out, bolted up the fuel lines, emission lines, soaked the power steering lines with nut buster, washed all the bolted on parts, then dried them and primed and painted them. WOW, long day that started at 10:30 am all the way to 7:00pm...pix...

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
It is very nice to have Greg there for us. I/we owe him big time. To be paid at a later date when he finds his dream car.
Again, we haven't taken the front X-member off because the $$ aren't there yet and the front end was pretty tight. It will come off next year sometime as money permits. It will be totally blasted and repainted and new control arm bushing and ball joints. The differential will be re-built soon. Some of our pix won't load for some reason.. but I will keep trying. I did get the sway bar off and it will get new bushings and 1 of the brackets is rusted and bent, so we will be needing one of those. The fuel lines were just cleaned up with a wire wheel and cleared. And we ran brake cleaner thru them. |
