Re: Show us your projects

1959 Chevrolet Apache SWB Fleetside project

.030 over 350 with Duntov 30-30 cam, gear drive timing, Edelbrock carb. and manifold, block hugger headers with 3” exhaust, Flowmaster 40's, HEI distributor, 400TH transmission, Lokar shifter, Olds 8.2” 3.73 rear end. Mono leaf suspension with front disc brake conversion. Poly bushings front and back.

It’s still a little rough but it’s coming along. 1965 Thunderbird bucket seats, 1954 Chevy steering wheel.

It's getting sandblasted, new cab corners, new sheet metal where needed and a coat of catalyzed flat black primer.

My '53's I just got home today.

Great grandfather bought this one new. It's rough, but I had to have it.

Re: Show us your projects

That looks like its a '47 not a '48. '47 was the only year, to my knowledge that had the gas tank in the bed. Either way it's a nice looking truck!!

Re: Show us your projects

The 47 and 48 both had the gas tank under the bed. I used to have a 48 and the tank was under the bed. As far as I know the only difference in the 47 and 48 is on the 47 the park brake was on the trans. and had a hand control then in 48 the park brake was used on the rear brakes on the rear axle. 'And the control was moved to the left by the kick panel and had a foot control.
Then in 49 the gas tank was moved inside the cab.

Hope this helps.

Jerry

Re: Show us your projects

Jerry
You are correct. Plus...I have the original title, door tag and bill of sale, and it states that it is a '48! They do look alike!
It is funny...everyone seems to want to change their seat tanks to frame tanks, even though Chevrolet, in their infinite wisdom, put them behind the seat for many years.
Thanks nickP
It has alot of surface rust(patina), but very little rust thru. (floor boards)

My daily driver, a 54 junkyard build top to bottom.

the turbo setup went 9.8 @141 in my camaro. This truck weighs 200#'s more. I haven't tuned WOT yet, roads are too cold now.

It's an s10 frame with 76 granada 9" disc brake rear with 3.00 gears.

Engine is a 2000 chev. 5.3 bored to 3.903= 347 cubic inch with a 4l80e trans.

turrbo is a 76MM

thanks, yeah I built to absolutely waste any of the new supercharged mustangs etc. I haven't had a chance to do it yet though, ha ha.

I don't even have a single gauge yet or my traction bars installed. I use my Tom Tom for a speedo & set the cruise control I installed out of an s10 blazer.

Re: Show us your projects

haha.... I've got a friend out here in WA that has a super charged '05 mustang. He could use a whoopin'! But he's working on a new engine. The last time that we raced (I was in my '88) his enging and charger blew up.. ... Now he is working on a new engine. I'll let you know when he is finished, so he can get his butt whooped by one of our styled trucks!

Manual Trans? If so usually no problem unless it is an exceptional driver. I raced an 850 rwhp ( i saw the dyno) & every time he shifted I got another 1/2 car length.

Ya it's a stick, and he really isn't the best shifter. I'll have to let you know when he gets it re-built. Besides he is nowhere near 850 rwhp. You'd have it in the bag.

Been replacing floors and brought home some additional parts today. 3 grills, front bumper with a good filler pan, inner fenders, and some fender braces.

It is a jegs brand 19x22 IIRC. I wish I had gone with a double pass so I didn't have the upper hose crossing back over & getting it the way of cold pipe coming off of the intercooler. It's just kind of hacked in there.

I bought 2 of the $40 ebay fans & made my own shroud. Seems good so far, it pulls air through the intercooler as well. It was tight in there for both so I only have about an inch between the two.

Re: Show us your projects

Here is my 54 Chevy I've been working on it for about a year now. It is stretched 6", chopped 2.5", sectioned the front of the cab so it will tuck the running boards against the cab and raise the bed to get ride of that huge gap between the window and the bed rail.

Re: Show us your projects

That COE is sick! Do you have any closeups of the image on the door? Mater of fact I think that we need some more details on both trucks. Com'on I know you want to talk about them.
