Yes, they have 1 1/4" inputs. But the bigger inputs are 1 3/8" when you go big. That is the same size as the NV5600 and G56 too.

So lots of progress in the last few weeks . It's up and running now. a few things still to do. the rad is shot. Just used it to make sure everything was going to work. I let it run in the shop for a few hrs tonite . got up to 195. still needs a fan as well. The t case shifter has to be moved up abt 6 inches too. looking forward to a test run if it ever stos raining.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Any one know what k&n filter fits on the front of the stock turbo. I see lots of trucks with a nice stubby one that fits quite well.

Don't go with K&N, just about any filter other than that should be fine just not K&N.

I hear that it takes a big filter to provide air for these things. I have seen stubby filters sucked in on themselves.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

If you get a couple 90s or a big U you could run a BHAF, or you could just get a stock 2nd Gen intake pipe and do the same thing. I don't think the 1st Gen pipe is long enough.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Well tonite was the fitst drive. It's noisey , rattles , no cup holders and it rides and handles like a hay wagon. Yep love it. It needs a few tie rod ends and the drag link is ng. I knew abt this tho. Was wating on the draglink till i got it figured out what I wanted to do. Going to do a link using gm ends like Ryan did on the V rig. This should take care of the haywagon handiling . Still need a air filter. Make a new mount for the T/c shifter, move it up abt 6inches.

Im also thinking Im going to have to make up some kind of track bars. This truck has only got 1/2 ton springs in the rear. That combined with a 4inch block for the rear lift and a lot more torque on tap and it tends to waunder around a bit in the rear when you stomp on it or decellerate quickly. Some bars should help eliminate the axle wrap and keep me going in a straight line.

Any one built any before ? Any pics ? Ryan I'm sure you can contribute

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Oh ya. It has a small oil leak that I dont remember in the dodge. Must be the detroit green paint ..... I will take a few better pics when it is out in the sun. I need to decide what to do abt the wheels. blk steel ? blk steel with white hup caps?

Also like the look of clean white steel. Like these .

The truck looks great, glad you got it running around!

And you can't go wrong with white wheels.

The truck looks sick! Glad you got to test drive it. Me and you test drove ours within a few days of each other! Do you think the big steering wheel has any affect on the wondering feel?

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Hi luther.

It may have a effect. It kinda drives like a hay wagon with a few school bus updates . I got a few tierod ends today. Will see whats up with making a new link from the steering box to the axle.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

Well i wasnt really looking to do much more on the truck for a bit becouse boating seasion is close by. I have 3 launches booked next week and the ice isnt even out yet.

however I was at the parts store today and found that Raybestos tierod ends were only $25. so 2 new ones are on the truck. this way I can try the old ones and see if they are the rite size / taper to use for the link to go from the steering box to the axle. I hop so . this way I can just get 2 more and tap the inside of some tube and make a new link affordabily.

I also took the 56 shift knob and tapped it to fit the dodge shifter. Thanks for that idea Luther. installed a few new lug nuts to replace ssome badly worn ones.

I have so much I need to get doing soon !!!! I have abt 55 boats here in storage in the other 2 buildings. But Im havin so much dam fun workin on this old turd.... I cant stop !!!

Hopefully we get some sun on the wknd. i'd like to get a few good pics of it outside to compare ride hight etc.

As of rite now we are suppost to get freezing rain like crazy tonite. Hope not.

Re: My 56 6bt 4X4 build.

A little more done now. I did a good nut and bolt. Grease everything and check all fluids. Still need t/c shift lever and link from steering box to axle.

Here are a few more pics. you can see how tight the cummins is in there . i did it all without cutting so im quite pleased.

Still need a pusher fan in front of the rad as well. Let me know what you all think of the wheels. I got all my matching wranglers on. i also found some 16in trim rings. I thi nk they will look sharp with some fresh paint on the rims

Here are some pics. Enjoy.

Hey Thanks Ryan. Its so nice to be able to turn the key now. And power steering . Crap how did I ever drive this thing before .... oh ya thats rite I didnt .

I think the green paint may have caused my small oil leak

All I need now is a set of track bars the way you described the other day !

Looking very nice! I think it needs a set of white caps on those wheels, the 60-70s 12" painted ones should fit those wheels.

I have a set of the 12 inch hubcaps. They need to be painted up tho. It's on my list.

I'd love a set of the chrome ones from that late 60's early 70's vintage !

I have a set of 1/2 ton ones on the wall. Even if I heat em up they still wont strech over the big 3/4 ton wheels .

Thanks for all the complements guys.

Looks great! Sometimes I think I want to go back to steelies on my Longhorn. I'll wait until i can move it under it's own power to worry about that.

Yeah, the green created the oil leak.
