Re: My own build thread
Hope you are able to get ur stuff painted.... Def know the feeling of being so close to paint and wanting to make everything as perfect as possible...being a perfectionist is sometimes my biggest downfall. I just like the feeling of completion and knowing you did your best. Can't wait to see your truck all painted up and come together.

Re: My own build thread
Thanks everyone, I just took one of my finals and it sucked... I'm pretty sure I passed but the good news is now after tomorrow I can spend all the time I can on this thing. The chromer called and said my bumpers and grill should be done this week or early next week. It wil be so bad ass if I can put it together next week. I still have to figure out the motor, I have a plain old 350 in my parts truck. That's probably going in because I can't afford to build my Sbc 400 like I wanted to. That will have to happen later.

Re: My own build thread
Well... I ended up having to do more homework on Sunday and I didn't get as far as I would have liked. However I did make some progress. I painted the core support and the inner fenders black.
And the hinges and springs I also truck bed lined the floor, I wasn't going to do this but the carpet will cover it and I think it will give some more protection from moisture etc. The picture makes it looked too light but its fully covers I also truck bed lined the inside of the tailgate, I wish I would have had more money to get a new tailgate because this one was pretty rough. We pulled it out and fixed most of the dents but the inside was pretty hammered because this was a farm truck. I am going to paint over this with the dark color so it should look good. I blocked out 90% of the cab yesterday... I have no skin left on my fingers... Lol I forgot how bad block sanding sucks. But our plan is to finish sanding tonight and paint the inside of the cab and the door jams tomorrow. I'm so happy we are getting this painted finally. I just hope my fingers are going to make it through this. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My own build thread
Thanks! Spent all night last night wet sanding. The whole cab is ready for paint as well as the doors, cowl, firewall, and a few other pieces. We are going to paint the inside of the cab, the door jams, and a few other pieces tonight when I get off work.

Re: My own build thread
Spent all night last night scrubbing parts down, I used this new primer and the wet sanding crap stained everything... I ended up having to sand the areas that had stains on them and by the time I was finished it was too late to paint. So... I will give it another shot tonight. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to do this paint scheme. I'm painting the dash, steering wheel, and steering column the dark color and the rest of the interior the light color. I just hope I don't have problems with the tape pulling paint off... Oh well I'm gonna try.

Re: My own build thread
cant wait to see how the paint turns out!!! stick the tape to ur shirt or pants a few times before putting it on that paint so it wont be very sticky!!!! that will help keep it from peeling

It's coming along, finished painting the rest of the inside of the cab, jam, doors, And door panels. The inside of the cab was not fun... Lol but it turned out well. This gold has some serious metallics in it. Before clear After clear My Iwata spray gun rocks! That thing lays down clear awesome! Here's the bottoms of the doors Now to get the rest of the truck put together and finish blocking the bed, hood, and fenders. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My own build thread
What a nice way to start the day seeing some fresh paint pics!
Looks really nice man! I know you have been working your a$$ off on this and now all your hard work is showing! Which iwata gun are you using?we have Sata guns for shop guns for sealer and the waterborne paint we use. We have an iwata supernova which is a nice gun too but I use my iwata lph400 daily and haven't used any other gun that lays the clear down nicer than an iwata. Keep at it buddy can't wait to see the outside painted up Posted via Mobile Device

Re: My own build thread
The gun I have is an LPH400 or 100. I can't remember which is which, one of those is a jam gun and it works nice too but the big gun lays down clear like no other. Thanks man, it's so nice to see this finally coming together.

Re: My own build thread
Thanks guys, here's a few with it all untaped. I did the door jams like this because its two toned and I wanted the jams to match. It's a little different but its the only way I could come up with and still keep the interior the gold color.
I wasn't sure I would like the dash brown but I think it breaks it up nice and I think it looks killer. I'm going to paint the steering wheel and steering column brown also. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My own build thread
Sorry guys I haven't stopped working, I took a week off to make a table for a friend that passed away. It was auctioned off at his benefit and brought 3100 bucks for his family. I'm blown away that I could have a part in helping out, I made everything except the pin striping, I got the idea from one of the guys that builds similar things around here. Feels good to help out people in need. I was honored to be apart of it, I'll miss this guy RIP SID....
