Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
We got back home from vacation in Florida last night, and since I had got stir-crazy from not working on anything for a week, I got out there and finished putting the engine together and painting it today. I bolted on the passenger side exhaust manifold and turbo as well. I wanted a real old school look, so after I got the marine injectors and lines installed, I painted EVERYTHING Detriot green like they did on industrial and equipment engines. They do that on those kinds of engines so if anything is ever changed or replaced, you could tell it. It looks great and looks massive. I still have run an oil supply and return for the turbo, and make a tube to connect the turbo and pressure chamber, but the big stuff is done. Sorry for the quality of the pics, I only had my camera phone.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
This is the look I was after. Just about any old Detroit you see has everything painted green. I've always thought they looked cool!

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
Thanks Rick! That has been what I have been hoping for all along. Since there were so many built, and so many fixed up, it is really hard to find something truly unique when dealing with these trucks. The phantom concept of building something "that could have been" has always appealed to me. I wish Detriot had a light truck engine from that era, or even that the GMC Toroflow V6 Diesel had been more successful so I could use that to power it, but I think I've done a decent job of making the Detroit/GM 6.2 look more period correct. I have a canister style fuel filter that I'm going to mount somewhere that will add a little more of an old school look to it also.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
I'm going to put my custom Detroit 8V-47T specs/service decal on the LH valve cover to add a little breakup to the green. Allof the part numbers on the decal I made are real numbers of the stuff I've bought for it, so it will we useful if I need to know the numbers later on.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
Not in yet, but the 292 is out as of today. I took the whole front clip off and and I'm going to blast and paint the frame and cowl before putting the diesel in. I should have some progress pics tomorrow.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
A little progress. I got the front clip taken off and the engine and transmission pulled. I'm going to blast and paint the frame, and sand and piant the inner fenders and cut prime and cut in the fenders, grill, hood etc. Sorry for crappy camera phone pics.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.
I pretty sure I'm going to go with black with chrome bumpers and CST grill trim. My ramp truck is black, so I think matching haulers would be pretty cool. The paint on the '67 will be much nicer than on ramp truck though.
