Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build

Pic 1 Couple more items on the bed. We are installing WOW products tailgate supports, so we welded nuts in stake pockets for tailgate supports. and then welded up hole at the top.

Pic 2 Same on the other side.

Again lots of detail on todays post, that's about 95% of bed work done.

For the next three days I'm going to the Mid-America Nats. in Springfield, I'll be home each night to check on my wife, but won't be doing any post, sorry.....Jim

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build

Have a good time. The truck is gonna be a smoothy I can hardly wait.

I was wondering if you could tell us a little about your welding equiment and why you chose them. I'd like to get something for home/shop use in the future, for small stuff, maybe fix a rocker panel or cab corner and weld some exhaust pipe, stuff like that. I have very little welding experience but I have taken vocational courses in gas, stick, and mig. Any advice would be appreciated.

Had a great time, lots of driving, a little over 750 miles total, driving back and forth each day, but I love driving my 50 pickup. I have owned a Clark 100E mig welder for over 20 years, and it served me very well (was getting hard to find replacement parts). Late last year it was really getting bad (had to blow air on it to keep it cool so I could weld).

So I replaced it with a Miller matic 140, man what a difference, this thing welds so nice (new technology sure makes a difference).
