Re: '67 Short Step #2
Well lately all I've been doing is a lot of sanding and I got bored with that so I had to do something mechanical. I started installing my parking brake stuff, still need a couple parts. Bobbo came over and helped me get started on my power steering so I can shorten my column. Then I did the white gauges and set the odometer back to zero. A big improvement for $30 and two hours. They'll glow blue at night.

It's like filler on , sand , sweep , filler in the trash , repeat . Dust everywhere . Dash looks good though .

Yep. Just spent another 2 hours trying to get the body lazer straight. I can't seem to leave well enough alone. I'm thinking another 2 hours is all that I'm going to allow for filler. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer but I already have two sets to work with. If they are in good shape you should be able to sell them for $20-$30 though.

Re: '67 Short Step #2
I haven't really done much work on the truck lately. I had a pretty nasty crash at the motocross track so I've been recovering this week. Today I went to check out a salvage yard. The place is called CST trucks and all the guy does is collect GM trucks and muscle cars. He has a ton of 67-72's along with alot of really cool cars. It was storming when I was out there or else I would have taken some pictures. Next time I will. I suggest if you live in the area to go and check this place out, it's between Aurora and Mount Vernon on K HWY. Anyways, I picked up a set of really nice fenders for $150.(I know have six fenders, three tailgates, and two hoods.) I have about two hours of work to do on these and then another 2-3 on the cab and then possibly it will get painted this weekend. Don't get your hopes up though.

Re: '67 Short Step #2
looks good man... I will have to go check that place out.. I am defenitly in need of some stuff.. I actually got my old cab off tonight.. I decided it was so bad it wasnt worth keeping so I took the sawzall to it.. Sad but the more I cut the more my decision was the right one.. it was trashed.. Just keeping the VIN PLATE OFF It.. Anyway if you ever need any help with the truck let me know i would defenitly be interested in checking it out in person. Sorry to hear about your motocross wreck.

Re: '67 Short Step #2
I'm going out there next week for some little stuff like the ebrake hardware and maybe a bumper. They have a GMC Tailgate that is probably fixable also. I'll let you know when I'm going.

Hey Krullinator, how ya feeling? I hope you are getting better; we have horses so I know how a "crash" can feel! Looks like a nice find on the fenders, are you going to shave the marker holes? (please?) Keep us posted!

Re: '67 Short Step #2
Thanks for the comments!
Don, I've shaved the marker holes and almost finished the body work on them, I'm keeping the hood letters though! In the last week I have installed the one piece window kit from Brothers, reassembled the truck for paint, welded my mirror holes(truck was made with only a drivers side mirror!), finished my hidden CD player mod, basically everything I needed to do to get it ready for paint. My painter friend should be down here next weekend helping me paint it. We'll see how that works out. My engine is supposed to be finished in two weeks, I called him yesterday and he was actually in the process of removing the head bolt bosses in the intake ports! If you know about inlines then you know how big of a difference that will make alone, especially after I add the turbo later on! When I started this build I bought a 80cu.ft. welding bottle and I have gas left over so I made a garage robot!Well here's some pictures. |

Re: '67 Short Step #2
she's really comin' together man!
and good move getting rid of the bolt bosses. Any chance you're gonna put lump ports in while you have it out? That'd really wake 'er up, especially with a turbo. can't wait to see this get together and back on the streets, it's awesome for a pretty basic 6 truck to get back on the road. -Sam.
