Re: What I did today...
Well, the initial plan was to have the 5.3 swap done in time to drive the '64 to OK...but somebody got the bright idea to pull the cab and fix the body first. Looking back, I should have left it assembled until I was finished with the cab so I could have cranked it up and let it run. Hind sight is 20/20...

Those brushes hurt... Thanks for all of the comments guys. Oh, and Jason, hopefully it will be together by next summer and all of you guys in OK can see it then.

I usaully don't like to correct folks on the forum ,,,,But Tim. Buford Pusser was a real sherriff in the Selmer Tn. area (Walking Tall) the sherriff in the movie (Smokey and the Bandit) was Buford Justice..

Re: What I did today...
Thought I'd post a little update since I haven't been on much lately.
The drivers floor is mostly done except for the cab mount hole. Hung the door, planning to check gaps for initial fitment of the outer rocker, closed it and the stupid thing stuck. Haven't had much motivation lately anyway and this was just the icing on the cake. Haven't fooled with it much in a coupla weeks now. I did finally get the plates from the machine shop. The guy initially told me 2 weeks and I got them in about 4 or 5...but on the upside they were free. He did the plates and a pair of 2x2 blocks for me and told me he might need some car/truck parts later so it was on him this time. I was shocked. I did go out and bolt up one of the plates to the block and it fits like it was made for it! (Thanks for the plate link olsofti!!) Might try to sit the motor on the old crusty frame this weekend. We'll see...

Re: What I did today...
I think we all get in a slump. Kick it into gear boy, and get something done.
We're waiting.

Tim, I knew I should have stopped in while I was in Gulfport. Kick you in gear and help you get that floor done. Get off it!

Re: What I did today...
Yep, you should've! I could have used the boost.
Thanks for the encouragement everybody!! I actually did work with the truck today. First, here are a few pics of the floor/inner rocker that I did a week or two ago. I am going to have to add a little more to the bottom of the inner rocker because the metal that I used was not quite long enough. Otherwise the floor is mostly complete on the drivers' side. Here is one of the adapter plates and one of the blocks. They turned out nice!! I managed to get the motor and tranny set into the frame tonight. I need to buy a new tranny mount and get bolts for the rubber motor-to-frame mounts so I can determine EXACTLY where everything will be. Than I can mod the frame, if necessary, and take it all back apart for cleaning and painting. Here's some pics of the motor going into the frame. More pics in next post...

Re: What I did today...
This thing fits the frame like a glove. I was really surprised, even after reading about numerous installs, about how well it fits. My next step will be to get the manifolds broken loose from the y-pipe so I can see how they will fit. I soaked them down with "Twister" before I shut down for the night. May not be much progress tomorrow. Both kids have 'ball practice and I might try to put a new fuel pump in the wifes Sub(really dreading that one!). Anyway, thanks again for the words of encouragement. I'm just kind of overwhelmed by everything that's going on right now and just didn't want to mess with it much. I guess it all needs to be done though, so I might as well get back to it. It did feel good to be out there again once I actually got started. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that the motor looks like it belongs in that frame. They both have the same "crusty" look to them! Who'da thought the motor and tranny was 39 years newer than the frame???

Re: What I did today...
Congrats on the progress it looks good. I find myself getting lost in thought once I get working on the truck. It's a great stress reliever (most of the time)

Re: What I did today...
Yeah that does look like it fits really well. I'd like to go with one of the LSX motors some day.

Re: What I did today...
Well, it sure took some prodding but you got something done. It all looks like a complete spaghetti mess but, I really think the light blue coils look good.
