Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
the previous owner/s of my truck had the lines hooked up backwards, they had the front feeding the rear and rear feeding the front.
that caused a few extra hours to figure everything out. i assumed the truck was hooked up right. |

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Thanks for the kind words guys! Had a little mishap when I rebuilt my drivers door hinge, thought I could handle the door myself but I dropped it and took a hunk of paint off the bottom of the door and put a pretty large bow in bottom of door, truck is back at paint shop and he's also fixing the large scratch I put under hood trying to install it by myself. I guess i'll never learn to be more patient and ask for help installing these heavy panels! Get the truck back tomorrow and then i'm ordering a Vintage Air setup to complete the build.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Finally finished my vintage air install today, not particularly thrilled with the location of the compressor, but i'll live with it. I also installed my lower door carpeting I got from LMC to match my kick panels, thought they turned out cool.

2 sided 3M trim adhesive, pretty stout stuff.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Thanks, I am going to do the same thing to mine.. I thought about using spray adhesive like I did on the roof panel... But sounds like your idea might work better.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Yeah, just make sure its warm when you apply it. I first put mine on when it was below 70 outside and it let go in a few places. Warmed up the shop and reapplied it now its holding tight.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Very nice. Always loved the red interiors. Don't see them all that often. Like the original vintage steering wheels though. To bad nobody reproduces them in a smaller diameter.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
You can change the bracket on the compressor.. Vintage air makes 2 styles..

Gene, I've got the compressor mounting kit that came with my unit that I'm not using. Maybe you can use it on your setup. I may be mistaken, but I don't think the bracket I have looks like yours. I'll check this afternoon. Edit: I found a picture of the installation kit that I have. Is this the same kit you installed?

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
My bracket looks to be the same as what you have now. You agree?
Since I'm running a GM compressor and serpentine kit, I've never looked at my VA bracket and hardware.
