love the wood in the bed. I think a nice clear coat sealer would look great. I kinda like it without the strips. Looking good man.

Re: 53gmc build! With pics!
I've spent the last hour reading your thread from the start and gotta say this is an awesome build. Especially being able to have your grandpa around to enjoy it with you. I just bought me a 1950 GMC from a friend and your build has given me some great inspiration to work on it. I myself have been doing bodywork for close to 10 years now and gotta say for someone without any experience you sure did a great job. I just hope my build turns out as good as yours has. Keep up the great work man!

Re: 53gmc build! With pics!
Thank you so much for your compliments cleanshaven84. I am amazed at how similar our stories are about coming into ownership of our trucks. although, mine doesn't have a sunroof Think about all the money GM missed out on by not adding those to them!!
I will continue reading through your post and I will be watching your progress! Good Luck and Get to Work! |

That's awesome bud. Drive her until the wheels fall off then build her again, lol. I look forward to the day I can say that about mine. Once again, great job on the build.

Re: 53gmc build! With pics!
[QUOTE=BlueJeep;3475064]Actually, it's not that simple with the 94 and up body style. They're boxed all the way back to the rear kickup, near the rear springs. Not impossible, just more work than the earlier ones.
Blue Jeep is right, I just found that out on my 2002 ext cab frame. I measured the 5 inches cut it straight off and then cut the small pieces out, then put the frame back together and welded and plated the outside. |

53GMC, congrats on your build! I enjoyed the story about your grandfather.
I really like the stance of your truck, the colors great too, just a little shinny for me. Enjoy
