Re: So it begins.. Again..
That is true , I always think of us as the lightly modified engine group, we dont often hear of high HP engines on the 60-66 group.. I work for an engine parts warehouse as well as doing a fair amount of builds.. many times our customers run into this problem when running a low vacuum cam or or one that is too large, that is all other things are right such as timing etc... on applications where you have an idle problem/low vacuum , the fix is to drill an 1/8 inch hole in both front butterflies because the throttle plates are open too far at idle .. with the throttle plates open so far to make it idle the slot for the fuel is over exposed making it run rich .....

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Adjust the air/fuel ratio.... honestly I wouldn't by an edelbrock carb new... there tossed together in a factory so quick it would make your head spin. Get ahold of the rebuild instructions and go through it... the floats I would almost GUARANTEE are jacked up. Ive ran em for years... Hated em for years.... and went back to em after years.

Re: So it begins.. Again..
the last two 1406's i had, the floats were off on the drop and hang. Make sure your timming is good- Air Fuel idle- Fuel psi (5.5 works for me)- Check plugs for fouled or too white- Get the tunning kit with the springs, rods & jets- on my stock 350 i went two size softer springs and rich on cruise and power modes in the book... Oh and sometimes the choke is way off also... Once there dialed in they last a long time and stay in tune.

But Nathan for Porterbuilt has some new goodies that should be just what your looking for: http://www.porterbuiltfabrication.co...e-Trac-Bar-Kit For the rear notch, nothing really that special.. Again Nathan will have you covered on this too. http://www.porterbuiltfabrication.co...d-in-Notch-175 He make its really ez. It might be a lil more money, but after you try to do everything yourself. It is has always in my case been better to go with Porterbuilt. ------------------------ For the dang carb, I am working on a new 350 with aluminum heads, and some other cool stuff. Overall that last motor was not just not right. So I have the time so I just build it right, the carb should work much better with this application. Should be quick too! |

Can you post some pictures of your interior and some detailed ones of the wheels?
You have inspired me in going bleu and not black. |

Re: So it begins.. Again..
ain't been doing much on the truck just working like crazy, trying to get all the parts ready for the power steering then move over to dropping front to 5 inches and rear to 6 but along with that comes drop spindles brake lines booster and all the other crap that goes along with it.

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Thanks guys!!
DRTYRAT, just saw your updates!! awesome! love the color combo. What you think is the best way to clean our seats? I have white too, and it gets so dirty so fast. As for the motor running rich, I put a new motor, new aluminum heads, new intake mani and now it runs like a dream!! |

Re: So it begins.. Again..
I just picked up some leather/vinyl cleaner conditioner from the parts store and if it's something tough to get off I use a little rubbing alcohol then re-condition with the spray. White does suck sometimes I had it in my 54' also, but it looks so good.
