Re: 1979 Chevy build

man what a day i tried being kevsclassics for the day and rebuilding my steering column. Its fairly easy just had one problem the steering wheel is swiveling now like it is a telescopic wheel ahaha. Going to save up and have kevin redo it for me, id rather have him do it and ill try on a spare column i have and see how it goes the second time around. I forgot my camera or i would post pictures. Also i bought some sierra grande emblems for the fenders and going to repaint and rechrome them. And i have a good amount of parts awaiting to be put on the truck will have pictures this weekend. I have a deadline to meet of April 2nd so updates will start being regular stay tuned ahaha..

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Well i got me some fresh tires. The rims are 15x6 had them powder coated high gloss black and the tires are 245/60/15. It looks clean i am just waiting on my beauty trim rings to come in and it will really set them off. Also getting a 700r4 built and should be swapped in very soon. Will have updated pictures this weekend. Let me know what you guys think

Re: 1979 Chevy build

it looks good in the picture but it still has a little rake in the rear thinking of lowering it 2 more inches in the rear to even it out.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

If you'll hook a come-along between the end of that rear bumper and a post or something solid and crank some pressure against it the kinks will disappear out of that bumper. Just pull it a bit at a time and you'll be surprised how well it will respond.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Well finally some update pictures. I put the truck on a diet and made it loose some weight. I swaped out the transmission from a th400 to a 700r4, Had to change drivelines. When i sanded down driveline i found that it had chevy bowtie logos embossed in it kind of cool. Also i took off all smog equipment and and cruise control vaccum hoses, got rid of the 2 barrel intake, and upgraded to a edelbrok performer intake and a 1406 electric choke carb. Set up is like night and day compare to old stuff. It looks way cleaner now to if you ask me. Also putting in a picture of the inside of the engine after about 20000 miles still looks brand new.
