Re: My 76
I need some help on what I should do. Here are some pics of were I welded the rocker panel and I dont know how I should smooth it out. Should I just use filler? Or what?
I could live with the door jam part not being smooth, but the outer part that people see needs to be perfect. Also, what should I do about these two areas, its the passenger side door jam. I fixed the rust in the area, but the metal is pitted. Should I just leave it alone or should I fill it with something? And if I should fill it, what should I use to fill it with?

Re: My 76
The holes in the rocker, I'd weld them up because if you use filler, 5-10 years down the road it'll crack and be worse than you are now. Just my .02.

Re: My 76
Keep welding them over man, you dont want any gaps in your weld for the filler to crack or even get moisture in. Keep welding them then smooth them out by a little grinding and sanding them down

Kinda hard right now, everyone is asleep and I am missing part of two of my fingers thanks to the grinder...Not much, but it cut into me a little.

Re: My 76
Well, Hi there! back online, I was in internet jail for a while. I was looking for a vacuum hose diagram, clicked on a link and all H-E-Double hockey sticks broke loose.
Glad to see that you managed to get your floor together. As for the rockers and door jambs, if you think that your welding is solid and strong, you can use a premixed fiberglass (like I posted earlier) as a first coat to help seal out moisture.

Re: My 76
Here is where I am starting at this morning. Im hopeing to be hanging the doors by Tuesday.
I do got a question about my doors. Do I need to paint them, then hang them, and then put all the window stuff in? Or in what order should I do this?

Re: My 76
Oh and the rust is on the passenger side rocker panel. Not to bad, 4 holes smaller than a dime, but still.

Re: My 76
And here is a little up-date. I got half the floor sprayed with some rustoleum stuff. Looks good to me, and it seems to have stuck to the metal...Must be all the wire wheeling and cleaning I did. I also converted it back to a column shift. Still gotta get it right though. I went to crank it up today, and the dang thing was in REV, came 5 inches from my moms van.

Re: My 76
What you mean? I was gonna paint the door jams and stuff body color, and the interior I was gonna do it all black with blue accents? But as for paint, I got some omni quezer(cant spell) medium poly blue, PPG dark blue(dont know exactly what color), and PPG bahama blue poly.

Re: My 76
For some reason, I got the impression that you didn't have enough exterior color. Is it all Omni?

Re: My 76
I got enough to do the jams and exterior. I just dont think I got enough to do the interior. I got one gallon and its Nason Full-Acry II Enamel. At least thats what it says on the can.
