Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Any info on the great looking radiator? Like source, part no. price maybe? And where did you get the fans and shroud? Inquiring minds want to know.
On paint; I think the GM Atomic Orange Metallic would really make the truck pop! Go with it! |

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
yea, it's Entropy Technology, the owner's name is Tony and a great guy to deal with. The radiator comes with the fan and shroud for around 700. He doesn't have a part number, you just have to make sure your specific to him about what your original radiator is mainly the 17" or 19" height. Thanks for the opinion on paint, that's what I'm leaning towards.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Got some work done this weekend. Got the radiator mounting figured out. I would suggest getting a 19" high one and trying other mounts rather than getting the 17" one like I did. I had to modify the stock brackets. I also got the area cleaned up some and the transmission cross member bolted in.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Does anyone have any input on what rear I should run? Will the 10 bolt be enough for a 3200 rpm stall and at most 400 wrhp for now? I think I might look at junkyards and try to find a 10 bolt or 12 bolt with a posi and hopefully 3.73 gears.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
thank you, well I decided to go with the 12 bolt, so I am watching a factory posi with 3.73 gears on ebay along with 5x5 axles. Hopefully I win both, and then the rear can go back together for the final time.

got some body work started, I'll post some pictures tomorrow, I won the axles on ebay but not the posi, so might have to visit a junkyard sometime this week

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Got the 12 bolt bolted up finally, waiting on the axles to come, and still have to find a posi and 3.73 gears. The last picture is showing how the lines are going to be run for the trans cooler. Once the radiator is in, you can hardly see the line so I'm happy with the way it's run. I also got all the body mounts, so it should be time to paint the rad support soon.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
I'm likin' it! I am so envious of all you guys who get to work on their trucks inside and not in the back yard in front of God and everybody. Even worse in my case when the backyard is 26 miles out of town. By the time I get my truck done, I may be too old to have a license anymore.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Nice job Jordan. Showing some good progress. I got all the tranny tail stock parts and stuff ordered and delivered. Now I need to take it and the engine out of the donor at some point this spring. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Got the axles and posi rear, now have to find 3.73 gears and set the rear up and I can order the driveshaft. Also will be talking to a painter soon to try to get the core support painted and then work on the cab some more still. Have something this weekend though, so it will be two weekends until I get to work on the truck.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Didn't get much done this weekend and work is stopped for about a month for now. I bought a posi off ebay and turned out I got sent one for a 10 bolt, so that has to go back and then I'm getting sent one for a 12 bolt. The axles arrived and worked out fine and got them installed. Also got the fittings and hoses finished for the trans cooler. I have been working on the cab some now, took the bracket off for the brake booster and cut the sides off weld it back on.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Thanks, nothing really happened recently, except I got my 12 bolt posi unit. I mounted the old 12 carrier in the rear so the truck can sit on the wheels and tires again. Hopefully I can get around to getting the gears and mounting the posi for good and then order the driveshaft. It's slowly coming along. I am done school on Wednesday so things should pick up for the summer, and hopefully some things are getting painted soon like the rad support.

Hey you might have already said but if you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the motor? I plan on doing a ls swap down the road ? And do you know if you can use a 700r4 with it or do you have to get another tranny ? Thanks man

I believe the motor, trans and harness was $3200, which isn't bad for an LS2, but what I have found is that if it's actually an ls motor then it is significantly more than a 6.0 or 5.3. I know you can use your old transmission, but I do not know anything about that because I had planned on using the new trans the whole time. I believe there are builds on this forum that used the old trans, but off the top of my head I don't know any. Thanks for the compliments and good luck when you start yours.
