Re: Any van love?
Here's mine. Not as cool as the old shorties but serves several purposes well. Ex government EOD '93 G30 with 6.2 and 4L80. Bike hauler, camping, tailgating and parts hauler is its purpose. It's nice to be able to stand in it too. Last year of the G vans.

Re: Any van love?
Here’s a garage queen. Like 40000 original miles. Factory special order two tone paint. Last year chrome grille. I watched an 8 min video and saw zero blemishes interior or exterior. He turned down my offer of 9 grand but I was close. It’s headed to the great white north

Re: Any van love?
A little late to the thread, but getting back into a van build and thought I'd post up the project. I bought it last year ('18) and have been working on it as time permits since. First thing was haul out all of the 38 year old blue shag carpet. It was everywhere! I don't mind a little on the floor, but totally surrounded made me feel.....itchy. May have been fine, but who knows. It was too dark too and made the interior feel like a cave. Good for the 80's maybe, but I'm liking it lighter/brighter.
The only things I've done is strip it out, clean/paint the wheels, polish the trim rings, and put new narrow white tires on it. Still a lot to do, but with only 49K miles it should be good for a while. It's a 305 w/auto, would like a 350 combo better, but it's not broke, so I can't "fix" it yet. Maybe headers, and some better sounding pipes would help........

Re: Any van love?
Thank you Matt.
I had a G30 in the late 70's. The '78 was a windowed van and strictly utilitarian hauling family and a dog around. It looked remarkably like the tan and brown one a few posts up. This one will be for a three season daily driver. It's a totally true survivor with a bill of sale, and everything is correct. The dilemma is leave it bone stock, or modify it with a few bolt-on mods. Technically, it's been moded with the side door window and sun roof, but that's it. Most people just see a blue short bodied van, but there's a couple guy's around that appreciate the vintage.

Re: Any van love?
Drove it home for $500 about 2 months ago. Someone swapped the wrong PROM chip into the ECU, so the 4L80e wouldn't shift right (someone put a 4L60e PROM in), but managed to drive it home shifting 1-3/3-2 until I could get the correct chip.
The 5.7L is tired, but is very reliable and starts every time. Transmission shifts well. Needs brake work on the rear, but will probably just swap to discs this summer. It was a carpet van so ugly as sin on the inside, however I'm going to POR-15 the whole thing.

Re: Any van love?
I love the color scheme. I'm going to swap to the earlier style grill on my 86 eventually.
Here's my 86' I bought last year. I'm just finishing up swapping 6.0/4l80 in her. Then I'm going to start on the interior. I'm going with a 1970's theme shag carpet and all.
