Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
A couple of pics.
1. For the clinically insane, here is how my rear tire fits into my new bedside notch. 2. Had to cut off my entire bridge and raise it it a bit. My bags were to tall. 3. I am toying with the idea of attaching a 3.5" angle on the bottom of my frame to keep from tearing my truck body on speed bumps and other nasty things. The body sits right at 3.5" below the frame. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Got a door hung. I picked up some new hinges on eBay a while back. They worked great. I used all new bolts. I am going to wait till the cab is mounted for final adjustments.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Well..
I finally committed to a 4-link and welded it up. I converted some parts I had been saving and fabbed it all up. I get 8 full inches of lift front and back. It is triangulated so I may not run a panhard bar but I will weld the mounts on anyway. I can say ...finally... the bags are done except for the pump, tank and lines. spblack came by this weekend and gave me some inspiration. He is kicking butt on his. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Looks good.
A pan-hard bar may want to bind using it on a triangulated four link as it will want to move the rear slightly from side to side as it moves up and down through its arc. Kim |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Ordered my drive shaft from Southern Speed. Brake lines and fuel line from Ebay.
A minor but significant step was getting it rolled out of the shop for the first time in a Looooong time. Aired up and holding on its own. Yee-Haw!! It has tons of clearance. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Worked on brake lines, fuel lines, air bag lines and front suspension. Tightened every nut and bolt in the front and finished the center link and tie rods. I forgot how much I hated fitting brake lines.
Also got my temporary plate. Waiting on the real one. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Got the front end bolted on properly. I am cutting a few corners in an effort to get it ready for the upcoming show. I am using some extra under hood panels I had laying around. Modified the headers and installed them. It has been sitting for 2 days with the air bags inflated checking for leaks.
I know I will regret it later not taking the time to finish it up right, but I am tired of not being able to drive it and work the bugs out. I have to decide tomorrow if I am going to use a firewall or under cab brake system and just go ahead and put it on. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Still working hard on the truck.
I had to roll it out of the shop to get the Impala ready to go to its new home in Vanderhoof, British Columbia. If it was a two door I would not part with it. Got the air tank installed behind the seat and the lines run out of sight enough for me. It goes up and down fine. Got a great deal on a new door and put it on. Started wiring it up. I am learning a whole new level on patience on this one. |
