Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thanks for the kindness. I always underestimate the time it will take for these little mods. I see the work the other fabricators post on their builds and it is very humbling. Very talented bunch. Thanks again!

Maybe I missed it (I looked but didn't find), but where are the taillights from? Thanks.

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
I think that work looks great. It all looks like it belongs there. Is it possible to see a picture of the entire back of the truck. Would like to see the big picture.

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
72Mountaineer, those are Hot Rod Pontiac Rounds w/ Blue Dot. Renegade picked them up from a local rod shop. Thanks for the props guys! We will try to post a pick of the entire bed if and when we get our steel fenders. Have to clean the shop today to make room enough to work in there. Somebody assembled a bed right in the middle of the shop floor directly in front of cab. Its a dangerous place to work atm.

I like what you did on the roll pan and the tail lights. Looks real good.

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Hey Guys,
We made some more progress on the bed. Also mounted the gauge bezel and gauges to see what they looked like. Check out Fab 1 Jr. He is taking the truck for a spin! |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
More progress. Fab 1 started on the front of the bed to contour the front of the bed rails to match the contour of the cab.
Also mocked up the 2.5" wider rear fiberglass fenders(for sale by the way)to get an idea what the bed looked like with the wider fenders. We are getting more inspired every time we work on this truck! Want to say thanks to Fab1 and Fab1 Jr. for a fun couple of days! Renegade |

Had a good time! The youngling loves coming down and playing with all your fancy tools. He was all about telling his Mom about driving your hotrod truck. Lol.

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Fab 1 and I got a few more things done this weekend. I worked on the new bed and cab lift system for the upper garage. Two sets of tracks and a 1500LB electric hoist. This will make it so much easier to take the cab and bed on and off as needed.
We also got the new metal fenders mocked up on the bed. We are going to have to widen them by 1.5". Fab one made the prototype for the large bear claw latches so the windows should clear with no problem when rolling up and down. We are using these with the push button style door handles. Thanks, Renegade |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
OK guys,
Fab1 has been at it again! Check out the pictures of a custom made shifter handle that he has designed for the build. I works fantastic and all it needs is final polishing. We will be working through the gears in style! Thanks to Fab1 for working so hard on this build and being a great friend! Renegade |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thanks guys! There has been a learning curve on some of these modifications. That bear claw latch was the third attempt. The second prototype is still installed on the passenger side door. It works great if you dont need the window to function. If you look, you'll see the first try for the shifter handle laying on the bench behind the shifter in the pics. It worked well but didn't have enough throw to let the ratchet lock out. If I've learned anything, no need to try to feed a dead horse. If it's not going to work, save time and move on to plan B or C in some cases. You guys keep me inspired! Renegade, I would say as far as helping a man out, I'm still in your debt by a long shot. Your the man!

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Hey Guys,
Fab 1 and I have been busy the past few months and just recently got back to work on the truck. We have mounted the folding seats, started on the console framing, mounted the shifter, built the nitrous bottle mount, built and mounted the Optima billet battery mount base and mounted the Lokar emergency brake handle. We have also started building the subs and rear speaker box. Fab 1 also recessed the push button handles and has the latches working great. Also we have the Electric Life power window kits mounted. I am sure Fab 1 will chime in here with a little more detail. Thanks, Renegade |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Hey Guys,
It has been awhile. Fab1 and I have been too busy with other obligations to work much on the truck. Here are a few pics of some of what we have gotten done. Finished framing for the console and started adding the sheetmetal. The planishing hammer and english wheel are more than paying for themselves! |
