I was hoping that you had one of those "trade secret" solutions... the bodywork industry really needs to innovate! I have been using sandpaper though, so I guess I will give the 3M pads a try. I agree, and I wish there were more simple solutions, but when it comes to quality paint work, nothing beats good ole manual labor. The 3M pads are about 1/8" thick foam pads and do a great job of forming to the nooks and crannies. You may not ever get 100% of every inside edge sanded, but do the best you can and you will eliminate future peeling issues due to poor surface prep.

Thanks. I think the biggest hindrance to my body work is that I am always thinking to myself that there has to be a better way and that I must be making things hard on myself. I suppose that bodywork really is just that labor intensive.

So is your GM going to keep the truck for himself or sell it? If he's going to keep it, then it will be nice for you to be able to see it every once in a while as a frame of reference for your future builds!

He is going to keep this one, so we will be able to see it from time to time. Pretty flattering since he never keeps anything. he buys and seels old cars and trucks all the time.

Thank you very much! Your truck is beautiful! Love it! We searched high and low for TRUE white interior, but no luck at all, so we dyed everything using SEM products. I have to be honest, I really didn't think it would turn out very well, but it looks perfect. You would never know it has been dyed.

iam curious now what it would look like with my interior instead of the blue dash pad, it really does look nice, did you do your visors white also?

The build is complete and the truck has been delivered to it's new owner. I have to be honest, it made us sick as we drove away leaving it in his driveway. It was a wonderful 20 mile drive to the new owners home. The truck drove perfect, and sounded awesome with the 40 series flowmasters. It was a great feeling with all the the people staring at it going down the freeway. Here are the final pictures...we hope you will follow along as we dive in to build number 2 found here...
