Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
I hope you don't mind, but I may borrow your sliding ragtop idea. After spending last week at Cruisin' the Coast with my Blazer and having to find people to help me get the top off, then get it back on. While it was on I wanted it off, while it was off and the sun was baking me and my wife I wanted it back on. I think the Blazers actually look better with the top on anyway and I am not sure I want to deal with extra holes, extra leaks, & extra wind-noise associated with a soft top. This sliding ragtop seems like the best of three worlds to me.

We decided to lay some paint on the clip, so it's all orange again. Probably gonna repaint the rest of the body and lay clear. Now I need an bumper and bezels for a '68!

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Met up with ATP (Adam) on Wednesday and picked up a load of parts for my dads truck and my blazer. Dad got a complete stepside bed and I got a lot of smaller parts.
So, the bounty for the Blazer includes . . . New Grille hoops New grille (mine had a dent, ya cant see it in the pictures) New hood trim Chrome hood latch Chrome radiator hold downs New eyebrow trim New bumper (yeah, it'll be a bit before I install it, didn't want to take off the plastic) And Chrome hood hinges Still no hurry on getting the project ramped up, but the parts collecting continues!

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Nah... cant do it. Isn't mine to sell. It's my son's. Minus the LS engine, I have the parts to build it. Just gotta find the time and room to build it like we want it. I built a custom golf cart to take camping this past summer. It's done now, so maybe the Blazer will find room on the agenda for 2017.
Sam turns 12 next week. Hard to believe this saga started when he was 7 and it hasn't progressed any faster than it has. Life gets in the way. After 12 years in the same house, we are listing it in a few weeks. So we are packing to move and I just took a load of "potential" Blazer parts to storage this week. As I organized everything, I was blown away at how much cool s**t I've compiled. Hopefully, the next house will have a better shop. We looked at one yesterday that had a 6 car garage and a 8000 sq ft race shop out back. I could find room there to get 'er built. Although, the house is REALLY far from my work. The search continues for now. This is the golf cart (AKA: Gravedigger) that tied up the little bit of free time I had in summer 2016.

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
A while back, I bought a single wall top to swap out with my double wall top (which was saggin') I removed the windows to paint and when I go to re-install the OEM rubber, the stuff is brittle and hard. So hard, in fact that it broke some of the fiberglass off of the original top. Which I am repairing now.
Im thinking about going with new rubber for the windows, so I'm looking for feedback. I had the crap that you buy from LMC. Very cheap from my experience. In fact, I'm worried if it would even keep the window in place. Who have you guys used for window rubber? Has anyone tried Steele rubber? They are right here locally.

Most of the interior and engine shots are in my photobucket account. They were on here up until the point that Photobucket hired an idiot CEO. Here is the Blazer album. The album also includes a ton of pics of parts that I have accumulated for the build.

HEY, I just messaged your dad on Instagram to ask if he saw that the Hot Rod Power Tour ends in Charlotte again this year. I started a thread. Im thinking I may try to run the last leg? http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=753995

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
In celebration of Photobucket not sucking as much as they did yesterday (links finally work again), I thought I'd post an update.
The Blazer has seen some action lately. I decided to go back to my double wall top because the single wall was just too brittle (it cracked down the center line). My dad and I swapped it back and I'm very happy because it is just a much better top. The fit is so much cleaner. So, the hatch is also now back on. I brought a huge load of parts back to the house because since we've now moved and settled in here my garage is three times bigger than the old one so the Blazer will soon be coming home. I also got the hood lined up a little better so it will actually close. It still isnt lined up right but I made progress on it. While it has been sitting, the transmission developed a major leak in the pan seal and a minor leak on the rear seal. Both of those have been repaired. While we had it up in the air, I spent a little more time checking out the floor pans. I am amazed at how solid this thing is compared to most i've seen. I also had my insurance company get me a quote today to get it on the road this summer. In five years, its never been tagged or insured. Risky on the insurance... I know. I'll try to throw on a couple updated pics, but sorry Photobucket. You're not getting in on any more new pics on this thread.

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Not sure time since a vehicle has been tagged or insured should have anything to do with insurance cost. Mine was similar and when I got it legal and put insurance on it it was dirt cheap. I've got Geico and the insurance on my blazer is under $30 a month with $0-$25 deductable.
