Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb on Air

Here's the future 67-72 Restorations shop truck...

Has been sitting since 94 or 95. Guy has owned it since 89. No engine/tranny and some rust. But I really like the patina and more importantly...my wife does She likes the stepside bed also. And that is the BEST part of this truck. Probably worth what I paid for the truck alone because it's solid (and the tailgate is too). Floor is also solid as are the cab mounts other than some minor spots.

Hood front lip is rusted but I'm just going to run with it....
The pads or whatever that were on the hood in these pictures are gone...thankfully

Going to start a build thread on it as soon as I get it home and take more pictures. Will link it here so you guys can follow along...

Excited to get this thing on the road so I can be driving a 67-72 again and have a parts hauler when needed instead of my 2000 honda odyssey van

Yep, it's also got the "cool" wooden dome light option with map lights...and two speaker mounts on each side wall as well....but those are all gonna go first I'll be sure to start a fs thread in the classifieds as soon as I get them down...I'm sure there is going to be a bidding war for them

Congrats on the new parts chaser! Call me crazy, but I love seeing a truck like that, because you can completely transform the looks of it in a couple of weekends; remove the stickers, get rid of the curtain, put a stock bumper on the front, drop it, etc...

Yep, will work on this one at home and this project at the body shop for now. I really need to have a parts hauler so I stop destroying our one family vehicle...plus I need a set of wheels when my wife has the van....

Check out the link to the other build above...

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb on Air

Congrats on the "shop truck". I know the fleetsides are the most popular, but there's a certain coolness with the steppers. Somebody up there beat me to the punch on the curtain jab. From the front picture I was thinking big window, then I spotted the linens! I was racing to the end of the thread to take a crack at ya, but too late. I'd really like to see the wood dome light tho! We're all anxious to see how you sweeten this thing up into a driver. What's the powertrain vision? What about wheels/tires/ride height/suspension?

I dont check out the build area too often, so I just stumbled on this.

Good luck on your new venture! Hopefully the economy will pick up in the new year and you will be going like gangbusters.

Re: Project#1: Bright Horizons - 68 Swb on Air

Progress today. Got the rad support and fenders loose...ready to pull front clip tomorrow. Got the a/c box loose ready to remove once fenders are off (hood hinge is in the way of course) and removed the power brakes and the rest of the wiring and vacuum lines/heater hoses. Would have gotten more done but time was spent moving the truck to pull the engine then moving it back when the guy cancelled. Also had to find bolts and the chains for lifting the block out (at the shop so I don't know where the stuff is and I'm HORRIBLE at finding things if I didn't put them away - just ask my wife ).

nope

Really up to whatever he prefers with a little recommendation on future resale potential value....

Got more unbolted today and the bed was picked up. Got another one to fix up and sell as part of the deal. Still going new for the wood bed for this truck.

Pictures to follow later tonight as I'm getting ready for the shop truck to be delivered
