I think I said earlier in this thread, I wish I would have found him a cleaner truck to start with...The body needs so much work and now after removing the gas tank, theres rust behind there...We had just moved from Michigan where everything is rusted out to Texas and grabbed the first deal that came along...My fault...Ugh...Oh well, we'll deal with it... |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Hey guys...Its Logan's dad, Paul...
We've been off the radar for a bit and I wanted to check in with y'all...Nothing has been done to his truck and hes been really frustrated. I do have some good news for him but I wanted to get all of your input on it first before I tell Logan. I sold a parts car that I have, the guy picks it up tomorrow. Anyway, I didn't get but $600 for it and I want to get Logan started again...The body is so rough so I was thinking about trying to find a decent bed for it. Am I very far off price wise? We do still have a V8 and all the parts you guys gave but hes so overwhelmed by the rust and dents. |

I second TJ to but everybody is different. But my feelings are the sooner you are driving and enjoying it the more likely you might keep on working on it. It only takes a spark and bam you're back in the swing.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Yeah that was the plan all along, to get it drivable but then to have $600 to use to make a difference, I wanted to check in with all of you first. It does need brakes all the way around and shocks, etc.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Paul, I agree with the others, get the brakes and suspension done and get that V8 put in and drive it! Rock the dents and patina for a bit then start on the body work and paint.
I hope to be doing my '65 next year. Plan is to get my '85 GMC put together and sell it to help fund a new shop at the house.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
I'm going to grab this... http://www.championradiators.com/Che...radiator-63-66 Thanks to one of you guys, Logan has the mounts for his V8. I have his bumper up for sale to maybe help off set the cost of a transmission. We'll also plan on doing the brakes etc.
I thought I could simply go to Auto Zone for all the brake parts but all they have are the rear shoes. Any ideas on inexpensive brake parts? |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Thank you Karl...
I just made an awesome deal with a guy...I posted for sale the 6cyl and transmission thats in the truck online and this guy is building, I believe an old school rat rod coupe. He wants to trade even up for an LT1 and 700R4 out of a 96 Camaro. The Camaro was rear ended and he got the engine and trans in another deal. I needed a transmission to go with Logan's 283 so now we'll have a package deal... |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Great build. Reminds me of my first car I got when I was 14. 1972 VW bug. finished it when I was 18 and ended up winning a whole bunch of trophies with it. I do body and paint. If I lived closer i'd come over and show logan how to fix the rust and paint it.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Well, Logan got his new motor...This kid got a deal of a lifetime...Trying to get a few more bucks to add to his project, I listed his 6cyl and 3 speed tranny for sale. You never know, might be worth something. Wasn't online 5 minutes and I had a guy call me. Asked if we might be interested in a trade. Of course trades help everyone so, I asked what he had. Long story short, he is building a 41 Chevy and wanted the 6 for it. He had an LT1 and transmission out of a 96 Z/28 that was rear ended. Clean and only 80ish thousand miles. He traded even up for the 6 and tranny...Yeah! He just had no use for it at the time...Got all the accessories as well as the computer and wiring harness...So I pulled the engine and transmission, loaded it in Audras truck and headed to his house, about 2 hours away. The second pic is Logan when we stopped for a burger on the way home and then the LT1 at our house...Car guys are just that cool...

Re: Whats up with Logan...
nice score on the motor. just make sure you don't spray water on the Omni spark. moisture WILL screw it up.I learned the hard way.

Read a few write-ups on the Omni spark issues with moisture… I was contemplating the a LT1… one of the major issues was the omni spark getting wet… there is a conversion kit that eliminates the Omni spark and utilizes LS1 coils… If I remember right, the conversion box was about $300 and you can find used coils for around $50… I considered this due to wanting my truck to be a daily driver and here in Arkansaw we get our fair share of the liquid sunshine...

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Well some good news...We have a shop to work in...We rented a 45x45 foot section in an old warehouse. Other friends have rented sections too for their projects. We have a secure building with a concrete floor instead of dirt. The use of massive overhead cranes. We have a 10 ton in our section and theres one thats 4 times as big in the entryway...We also get a forklift to use. We hauled Logan's truck there and I have everything he needs to completely do the brakes front to rear to get started on things again...We're very excited.
