Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
You need to get some heat in there lol. Idk if summer is gonna show up in the peg this year ..... Depending on when you plan to be ready to get it running I'd be willing to give you a hand getting the engine accessories etc hooked up to get it started,we're in the same city so it's not a big deal. I'm sure you're going to wait until spring for all that?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
i try and get an hour or two every weekend atleast and just always get something done no matter how small. usually turn the heaters on and go make a coffee or grab a coffee like i said takes the bite off thats about it. I appreciate the offer i may have to hold you to it. im just researching how to install the bed right now and making a list of what i have to buy.
any chance you can get me a picture of the z bar? and how its bolted on and hooked up?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Put the thermostat in today and bolted up the manifolds, not huge feats but is all about number of small victories. I have decided I will be going with thrush mufflers since I have the faded thrush sticker I'm apparently so avid about keeping. The one major thing I have been thinking about is sticking with the three on the tree shifter for one I don't have to modify or replace the steering column and 2 I don't have to spend 500$ on a conversion kit. any opinions on the this? I hear a lot of complaints on how the linkage comes out of adjustment and that it isn't the fastest or most practical for modern day, any input on this?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Well as for the three on the tree they aren't the fastest shifting but even with a floor shift your trans isn't a short throw 3spd anyhow. Personally I would ditch that trans and go with an auto as they are much more user friendly especially in our terrible stop and go city traffic.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
If you swap to an auto trans... You can leave that column in place. Build a console... And go with an after market shifter like B&M mega shifter. Cable operated, universal fit(comes with brackets to fit most trannys). Neutral safety and reverse switches incorporated into the shifter assembly.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
I think I've started to warm upto the idea of 3 on the tree haha. And thanks appreciate it, maybe I'll slowly make more when there's visible progress. Shops not too bad with both heaters but isn't warm haha

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Thank you very much appreciate the support! Like I said hopefully I will have it running in the spring and painted by the end of summer, very doubtful the interior will get finished due to my budget.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
You might want to try The Truck Shop in Orange California for your Blazer tank. They have had the best price I have seen when I was shopping for mine. Another option to save on shipping is to order a bunch of stuff and get it shipped to a parcel service in Pembina, ND and pick it up on a day or weekend trip to the states.
I wouldn't worry too much about all the empty bolt holes everywhere, some don't get used, when are looking to put everything back in place it will make more sense later. I think you have the wrong idea with the insulation in the attic, you are supposed to open the bundle and lay the pieces out

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
That's what people tell me but I've never been good with insulation haha, nah I was planning on putting insulation up and dry walling then the subject of it being torn down was brought up so it wasn't worth the money an time. I'm going by walker auto tomorrow so I will see what they carry for gas tanks

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
So I picked up my tubing the rear sill and plenty of bolts for the fenders so I'm hoping I'll be able to do plenty of preliminary fitting tomorrow after the lil garage gets re organized and cleaned. Atleast that way I can be ready to strip and paint everything so then that's out of the way. But as for what tree is to do I have plenty until the next paycheck

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Tried to sneak in some time before my midnight shift today, I've decided I'm going to ignore everything for now and just focus on getting the body panels fitting properly goin off the measurements from a thread. Measuring and documenting all my gaping and shim measurements.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Wooden paint stir sticks from Home Depot or wherever you get paint work perfect for setting door gaps. Best thing is they are free.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
So you just set them in there and pull the doors tight?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
You would adjust the hinges so that the gaps on the jambs fit the sticks.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Makes sense I was scratchin my head as to how guys would adjust the door in small amount while supporting the door. It seems like my inner fenders are gonna fight with me too so i have to make sure those fit first. I have no idea if it the originals or the reproductions that are giving me a hard time. So that's the first thing to knock off my list. It's just kinda crappy that everything has to be adjusted and taken apart then adjusted then taken apart again then once everything is perfect it get taken apart hopefully recording it properly.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
The trick I have seen for that is to drill a couple small holes 1/8" or so thru the hinge into the body once you have the hinge where you want it. That way once you go to reinstall the hinge you just line up the holes

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Hey guys just another update had an ok day for temp. had my heaters on so i was comfortable all night. basically worked on a few odds and ends, fitting most of the sheet metal together in the front just need a second set of hands to help with tho hood. and I've started to work on getting the bed rails together and atleas mounted to the frame.
just some shots that i tried to manage in the small garage. another shot of the motor hasnt changed much here are some shots of the bed progress just need some measurement of the these sills and how they mount.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
You need to put the bed wood and strips on in order to mount the cross sills. They will line up with the bolts in the wood and separator strips.

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
ok, i also noticed when stringing up these cross sills you need to shim the newly made sills about a 1/4". so that second rear most just free floats? why cant it be bolted to the bed?

Re: Mr. Hyde's Ride
Not all of them attach to the frame. No need to I guess. Only four of the crossmembers attach.
