'Wintergreen' 1969 GMC Build

Alright, new wheels mounted. Knock off 6 bolt corvette rallys complete with derby caps and trim rings. Looks great! tires are actually the ones I had on those modular wheels in previous photos, except the white lettering is out now. The date code on them is 1998, hah! Don't really want to be using them on the highway, but it gets the truck rolling. I was actually able to put this whole package together for less than the cost of the spacers that the 22s were gonna need.

At that ride height, that was definitely the way to go. I considered going this route after coming to the same realization with my transits, but ultimately chose to stick it out with those and move up my plans of lowering my truck. Right now my truck looks kinda odd, but I've photoshopped it lowered and I love the look, so the transits are staying. Are you hanging on to your transits for future plans, or sticking with the rallyes?

Sticking with the rallys for now. I put the transits up for sale locally, but I'm gonna be pretty sticky on the price, so who knows if they'll sell.

They are a great looking wheel on the right application, as I think yours will be.

Update!

Finished the trim on the passenger side.




As well as all the rear trim and bumper!

Started installing the fuel filler. Apologies for the picture quality, I think the lense was fogged up with pocket sweat.

Then Started to get the wood bed ready for stain. Had to drill holes for mounting and attaching to the wheel wells. For the mounting holes, I designed some custom stainless offset washers with holes for a carriage bolt. I know, you can buy them online, but this was funner. Then had them laser cut at a local shop. I drilled the through holes first then measured the offset and added the counterbore so the washers sit flush. They will keep the bolt from turning and look great doing it.
Can't wait to get these boards stained and mounted in the truck! I think its gonna look amazing!

Thanks, Ed! Getting pretty close. Just wish I had more time to work on it. No reason isn't won't be done for this summer though.

Here's a couple shots of it outside from last fall. I'm really happy with the way its looking.

Finished getting the fuel system all plumbed, and fired up the fuel pump to make sure it was gonna work. Had to fix a few little leaks and rebuild the regulator. When I first started it up, the pump kept dead heading. Finally realized the the adjustable regulator was cranked all the way down (I bought it used) and the pump wasn't strong enough to open it. I backed it off all the way, started the pump again, and then worked it up to the 50psi mark (which is where I want to for my injector size). I let it run for about half an hour the pump seemed pretty happy there.

Had a video of the test, but not sure how to post. Just shows the pressure tester sitting at 50psi.

Knowing that the pump was going to work, I could lay the wood floor down. I used mix of weathered grey and pickled oak stain. I'm not super happy with the way it turned out, I messed up when staining it and the top side got a few splotchy spots. Only really noticable when you look for them, but Iknow they're there. One day I'll redo with a nicer wood.

Update! Pulled the diff and had it rebuilt/setup with the Auburn Pro series Limited slip, new gears (3.73) and new bearings all around. Sorry about the lack of photos!

Now its off to get the exhaust welded up. Getting closer!

Took a stab at my own version of the floating gas pedal conversion. I used a piece of aluminum plate and marked out the existing hole pattern.



Then added the pattern for the floating pedal shifted so that the the cable holes lined up:



Cut it out and gave it a polish:



Then I added self-clinching studs for the floating pedal to mount to:



Mounted it to the existing holes on the firewall:



Then mounted the gas pedal:



Pretty happy with how it turned out!
