Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Looks good Shannon! I'd like to add features lie that to my truck but the shrinking due to welding gets me scared. I'd have 3000 hrs into that brow to make it right. Even if I had a beer between tacks, I'd still be battling shrinkage. The hammer and dolly thing isn't clicking yet.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
looks great shannon,
farmer sid, don't be scared man. just gotta practice. don't have your heat to high and try .023 wire. Hammer and dolly is more patience than anything. Shrinking discs will make your life easier too. Metal work is art. I rather shape with it than filler, but it just takes time to get it right.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
69CST-V, thank you
FarmerSid, thank you. Yes, sometimes the shrinkage can be a real pain. It was not too bad. I did not even have a beer the whole time I was working on it. Haha 99 to Life, thank you. Heat is everything, it can really warp a panel out. The shrinking disc can really help bring things back. Here is a picture of where I am at with the brows. The passenger just needs the inner made and the drivers needs the outside edge finished, then ground up , metal worked and the inside panel made. The drivers was a pain. When they formed it the one leg of the panel was way longer than the other. Which threw me off. So I had the add to the inside edge a little. But it is only metal. So it is fine. 98layinframe, Thank you.
Chevette, Thank you. I do not know about the tail lights. I will find out this weekend. Ken and his son are coming up this weekend and bringing the motor and tranny and a bunch of other parts. Also giving me a hand mounting it. Should be a good weekend. oldman3, Thank you. Shannon

XD great work. I can't wait to see a profile shot. Any particular reason the owner went with 56 instead of 55? I am subscribed and have learned alot from watching your builds. Thank you for taking the time to post pics and document the process.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Oldman3, Thank you
Fountain, Thank you. No problem on posting how I do things, love doing it. I do not know why I use the 56 rather than the 55. I looked at a 56 my buddy has and thought they would work. I do not know how much different they are. Well I was thrashing this week. I got both the headlight brows done by Saturday morning by 8 am . Then around 9 ken and his son came for the weekend to help and bring parts. We had a great time. Ken and his son are great people and was great having them help. I mounted and made the mounts for the motor and transmission. They started to tear the truck apart for me which was such a great help. Then by the end of the day we moved the cab over to the new frame. They the bad news. Needs floors ,rockers ,cowls, cab corners and a few other pieces. We figured we better do it now rather than later. So this morning I made the rocker panels. I wanted to put then in today so I did not wait to order them. They turned out great. I try to always have 1x1 box so I started the frame work for the floor. So I cut everything out and am working on it. It will get a paneled floor and firewall. So here are some picture. Thank you again for helping Ken and Kyle. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Chevette, Thank you. Yes, the rockers were not to bad to do. Plus I had them right away.
oldman3, Thank you. The steering should not be too bad. It is getting a new fire wall so if I have to change the placement not big deal. Should be able to get the DD shaft between the back 2 tube just like the s10 headers. 99 to Life, Thank you. No, we have not put a fender on yet. I checked the track width with the s10 rims and it was good. No, it will not be a turn key, I am doing the fab work and get it together and Ken and Kyle are going to finish it. Taking the night off still tired from the weekend and also out of welding gas. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
98layinframe, they are speedway motors fender well headers. They were around $180. I think they will fit a bagged truck with no problems. We held a fender up and they seemed good. I should be able to tuck the exhaust behind the running board mounts and they will exit through a square exhaust tip cut into the running board. I am also going to put a capped exhaust cut coped into the front fender. I will try to get you some picture soon.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
I was back at it tonight. I bent a piece of 1x1 box on a radius for around the transmission. I welded it to 2 other pieces to tie the front all together. Then started to cut other tubes to tie the front tube to the second one. Ken order the sheet metal repair panels so I will put them in. I am picking up metal on Friday for the floor, drive shaft and the tubing to raise the bed floor. I am also building a aluminium bed cover for the 53 ford F100 I bagged. Here are some pictures.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Oldman3, thank you. Stay tuned then. Haha
Starterman99, no, there is 3/8 dense rubber between the transmission and the mount. It is a vette transmission so it did not have the standard mount bolt holes so I made it that way. I had to improvise. I started to make my back tubing for the back of the cab. I bent the 90°pieces in my roll cage bender. Then took our the die and put my tubing roller attachment in and rolled the back tube to the profile of the back of the cab. I made the back sheet metal piece that goes between the cab corners because I seen some holes in it. Here are tonights pictures.
