Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
any opinions on dash color? I want it to be black... but i hear a flat/satin blacck would glare less on the windsheild than gloss black.......

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
So as things start coming in I'm getting excited.
I'm hoping that in early June I will get the windshield out and i will start on the dash and get some of the other stuff installed. I'm hoping to get the wheel studs in this week so i can replace them. The floor pans came in and then, when it's running again I'll get the list of LMC order together to make her road worthy again. This is starting to get exciting

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Thanks to Humphrey I scored some rally wheels at a great deal! Thanks Man it was great to meet you!
Other parts have started to come in. Had a disappointing moment earlier today when I got the phone call that I won't be getting a new windshield this friday like i had planned. Apparently The company had one left but they broke it and don't know when they will get another one in. Got the grill surround put back into place and painted that black. rest of the passenger door got painted black too. Hoping to get the fenders back on soon. As much as I wanted to fix all the rusted through spots prior to reassembly, I think there is no way I can complete this with my limited time and lack of a garage, so it will be reassembled with the current fenders and those parts will slowly be fixed once it is back on the road. hoping tmr I will get more pics of it. order some cobalt drill bits today so I will get some of those rusted out screws gone in the near future. Did find myself a new computer. a little touch screen netbook...I love it!

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
also thinking of a wooden flat bed for a while, with the sides painted black to continue the "blacked out" theme of the truck

Good to see some updates! Flatbed would look cool...I used to have one on mine, but I'm happier with the stepper!

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
got one of the fenders re installed yesterday. and painted.
need to pull out the entire interior to get that started. the current goal is to get it running and licensed so I can get my wonderful neighbors off of my back. then I will work on the look. I have new floor pans for it, as well as a trailer hitch which I plan on installing asI need something that can pull a small trailer around. Friday I will get the hood painted, and hopefully get the rear of the cab painted and small pin hole rust spots filled. Hoping that not much will need to be done to be ok to pass the MO safety inspection. Hoping all this will be done within the next few months.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Cool....I just make more noise when my neighbor gets on my back....he's somewhat gotten the point that if he keeps quiet when I'm working....I'll be quieter when I'm working, but minute he opens his mouth...I revert back to starting really early in the morning and ending late in the evening...And I'm talking...lawnmowing..weed wacking...using the tractor....Seems like they don't get it at first, but after awhile they start to figure it out..if my neighbor leaves me alone...I'll be understanding at what time I start and how loud I am...But..If he gets on my back..screw it..I'll be as loud as I want to be. Know its not the best way...But I'm not one to screw up my rights for my neighbor. But..on a better note...Truck is looking great man!

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
so i got out of work earlier today than i thought i would and actually got home to work on the truck a little.
First few pics are pics of the progress I made today, the last one is the next big part of the project i have to tackle. most of the exterior is coming a long great. next thing i need to do is strip the interior, sand and paint. then redo the seat, reassemble the seat, install it then figure out how to get it down to the inspection station. the only big thing standing in my way is the wheel, but that has a solution that i'm working on and need to get crackin on that. and time for the pics.... and the next big part of the project

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Responding to your question at the top of the page, I painted my dash gloss black back in 1998 and I've never been bothered by glare. The chrome steering column does generate a reflection on the windshield at night, but it isn't directly in the line of sight.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Thanks for the responses.
I hope in the next few weeks to drive her out on the road again. She may not be beautiful yet but I hope to get her driving soon. This stupid wheel is getting the best of me and I know it shouldn't. A few more days and I should have it done. The wheel will never be usable again but it will have come off. Next stop, pull the seat, finish the floor repaint replace the seat and blow up the rear wheel.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
So much frustration in one day. First of all I tried to get the tires mounted. Had a coupon for $5/ tire. They say nope its $15. I get angry and walk out. After shopping around find a place to mount the tires. Get the two tires I had bought mounted.
Got home and got the stuck wheel off. I'm super excites things are finally going my way. Put the newly mounted tire on lower the truck, change on of the front tires that have dry rotten through, and as I lower it back down...swooooooosh. the freshly mounted back tire rips at the bead and deflates. On top of it all it appears the fuel filter by the tank is also clogged so ill need to get a new one of them. And to think when I started today, I thought I might be able to have her move under her own power by days end.... Oh well I'm done for the day, off to see the new transformers movie

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Got the hood latch derusted and repainted and reinstalled. any advice on how to get it lined up exactly right. mine doesn't seem to want to go just right.
today I got a lot done.....sadly none of it was on the truck. my house is significantly cleaner though. heres a pic of the hood latch. it also have 4 wheels and tires on it that are all inflated, yet to get a pic of the new rims though.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
So two things happened recently, I tried to get the hood and latch lined up and never could, so it anyone has any advice on that would be super helpful!!!
The other is sad news for my build, it looks like it is going to be on the back burner for a little bit, as with everything else, life has taken over and I don't forsee a plethora of time to be working on her.
