I got some color on the Engine and trans this evening. I am in love with both colors. I was worried the green was to dark but in my opinion it is perfect. It will really look awesome with the finned valve covers and oil pan. And I plan on detailing the bolts or buying an ARP engine kit. I hope the paint sticks. I prepped real well. Degreased everything and then use a Grease wax remover twice. Tomorrow's plan is to get the oil pan, valve covers, front cover, water pump, and intake blasted and some paint on them. Bret

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
More blasting and painting with Green. I am enjoying painting with a color other than black.
Manifold came out squeaky clean. I would have painted it if I didn't have to fix the heli coil. Bret

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Bret, I glad to see you are going with the green on the engine. I guess you are going to make it look original under the hood? I think it will make the truck look good. Good job!

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Hey John thanks for looking in. I'm not going for a stock look, more of a 60's custom Hot Rod look. I just saw someone's engine on here painted with this green and fell in love. I think it is going to look awesome with the finned valve covers and oil pan I plan to get. Will be using the stock pieces for now though. Its a cool color and different from everything else you see. No more Orange!
Bret

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Spent most of the day cleaning engine fasteners, painting, and cleaning and organizing garage.
The engine mounts look to be in good shape but they had Orange overspray on them so I just shot them with low gloss black. Have to run by my dads and get my stash of gaskets and should be able to button the whole engine up on this weekend. Also placed a few orders for the parts I need to finish the front suspension and install the engine and trans. Vacation starts in 14 days! Bret

Amazon.com: Dupli-Color DE1618 Ceramic Detroit... Thank you TJ. I love the green and so does the wife. Thank You I got a few more bits and pieces on tonight. Water pump painted and new gasket installed. Put the Harmonic balancer on and bolted water pump on, and mocked the pulleys to see how the black would look. I like it a lot.

I really like what you're doing with the engine too. It's also going to look great with finned aluminum components as well.

Had a buddy stop by and we rewired his boat trailer and then the wife and MIL made me a late Father's day lunch. It was a great day. I keep thinking at some point I am going to run out of parts to sandblast and paint. I guess it will be done then...

Diggin the paint. Engine looks really clean and classic too. Transmission came out great as well. I almost regret not doing mine in a nice metal color.

Re: 64 C10 Stepside "Jaybird"
Thanks for the comments guys. I finally have all the parts I need to finish putting the front suspension back together and also mount the engine and trans. I couldn't help my self I mounted the trans crossmember I ordered and mocked up the engine and trans. 2 bolt holes lined up for the crossmember so I only had to drill 2 more. Its a CPP crossmember I bought it on ebay and got the poly mount free and free shipping.
