Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Told ya I ordered some other parts. What you see here is a pair of new door shells, and a pair of front fenders... and Rhodey photobombing the picture.
So here's a little hint as to what else I had ordered. Any guesses? The passenger side pick panel was pretty battered with rust. So I went ahead and cut that out. Started working on a patch panel but had to stop labor on that because... UPS Freight had just stopped by and dropped off this item. Should come as to no surprise now as to what it is and what the cab bracing is for. Again, Rhodey dropping in on another photo. He does pretty good for support but not so much for help. He's always outside with me when I am working on the truck, except for when I am welding.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Yup so here it is. A whole new floor pan. Hoping to have this in tomorrow. If not, first thing when I get back from this small trip I have to go on. Unfortunately, my job comes with frequent trips. Keeps me busy, but at the same time takes away from my other hobbies. It was what it is. Can't really complain.
In need of some motivation I went ahead and place the floor on to the cab mounts. Initially I had attempt to try and lay the floor on it. Eeeeyeah, that was going south from the beginning. So I used my engine crane. Keeping with putting things on, I put my rear springs back on in addition to the rear shocks. In about a few weeks, i'll be placing the truck bed on to get the rear to a reasonable riding height and install Hotchkis' Truck Sway Bar Blade Style Rear Bar. So that's about it. Going to be making a lot of progress over the next month or two.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Not going to lie, its been really disheartening and a major buzzkill removing and fixing the rusted out pieces. It just feels like you're not making any real progress... Long story short. I also hate rust! Haha. Glad to be back and really hoping to have this beast looking like a truck by the end of the month. If I'm really on it, hopefully all one color. Already have some grey epoxy primer.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Prior to getting the cab up on its back. I had drilled out all the spot welds with the exception of a few. Just to keep it somewhat together during the move.
Once I got it to this point, I found a few more spot welds that I had missed. Wasn't much of a problem. Once I got them all out, it was easy to go from this to... ...this. The floor surprisingly came out a lot easier than I was expecting. Additionally, the bracing that I had done up, held really well. There was little to no movement after the floor was separated. This is how it will have to stay until I get back. Unfortunately, the floor will not be completely installed just yet. I am going to take my time with this one and my measurements. Hoping the time spent here will speed up installing everything else that goes with it.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
It's definitely been a hot minute since i've posted on here. So here's a much needed update.
In the between now and the last time, I had one last business trip overseas, it was a rough one to say the least, and I also moved. Not like down the street kind of move either. I'm over on the east coast now, North Carolina to be specific. After almost three months of being here. I am finally almost settled in. Been working each weekend to get my garage in shop ready condition. Have the electrician coming in next week to get some extra outlets, as well as some 220 outlets. "How about that truck?" Well, i'll be honest, I haven't been able to work on it as much I would have liked. From the not so easy temperatures in Colorado, when i was there, my move, and not having my stuff once I moved here, it's been a struggle. Work has slowed down now and I'll have some time to work on it. Here are some pictures for all that curious.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Additionally, I still need to get the the floor, possibly, realigned, rocker panels installed, panels aligned, and the roof repaired. Does anyone know of a reputable shop I could take it to? I am willing to go anywhere up along the east coast in order to get it fixed.
Orrrr if anyone is local to me, and can come help me out?

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
I honestly don't know where to start. It seems there is a silver lining with what is going on right now across the country. I haven't posted on here for almost three years. I've done more work on my truck in the past three months than in the last years, combined. It would be hard, and rather protracted if I went through each little thing I've done since the last time I dropped an update. I am going to start with what I've done in the past few weeks, and go from there.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
I then began working on the cab.
Full disclaimer: I am by no means a body and paint person. It's not perfect, and it was never meant to be. If a hefty amount of body filler makes you cringe, you may want to turn away now. There is significant body damage from the previous owner. I am not sure how it happened. However, it is here now, and I am making the best of it. I had the cab media blasted sometime ago, and as much as I wanted to have someone professionally fix it. It just never happened, so I did my best with what knowledge and materials I could get a hold of. I figured the filler that was left after being media blasted was a pretty good foundation, so I just sanded it down and added to it. Smoothed it down to my liking, primed it and then layed my basecoat. Paint Epoxy: Eastwood Grey Epoxy Basecoat: Summit Hot Rod Flat Dark Grey One-Stage Before: Filler:

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Oh yeah forgot about underneath the cab. I seam sealed and sprayed some undercoating. Seam sealer was from Eastwood and then undercoating was Summit Racing.
Finally, the paint. Epoxy came out well.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
After a few days of sanding and scuffing. I was up in the air of what to paint the interior. I finally settled on the extra work of painting the interior satin black. So I taped up the windows and doors.
The cardboard was initially to lean the ladder up against the firewall without scuffing up the firewall paint. I didn't mind the floors getting over spray as they will be covered with carpet. Finally, the basecoat.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Lastly, with the paint dry enough for me to remove the tape.
How last night finished. The cab is put away to the side for now. Tomorrow(Friday), it will be fully cured, and with the help of a friend, it will be going on to the frame. I have my last few body panels coming tomorrow(Friday). I am hoping to get the front fenders, and both doors painted, and then tackle the rear fenders over the weekend. Some things I didn't mention or show: - Radiator Core Support was sanded down and painted with Summit Racing Semi-Gloss. - The previous installed Painless Performance Wiring harness is being re-used, I routed and installed the rear wiring harness. I also installed the fuel pump relay. - The fuel tank seen is a purchase from Early Classic Enterprises. It's stainless steel and was originally made for a carburetor. Due to the internal baffling, I had to place the fuel pump(Holley In-Tank Retrofit Fuel Pump Modules 12-130) in an odd position. The tank was purchased in 2004. - Hotchkis Rear Blade Style sway bar is finally installed. The blade has been mounted for some time, but I never welded in the mounts on the trailing arms. - Hotchkis Front Shock mount Well for now, I think that's about it. I'll try and do some more updates as things happen.

Good to see you're still @ it when allowed. Cab looks decent in primer & you're taking a good approach to doing things right. Stay healthy!

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
Over the past few days, I knocked out a few things—first thing. In working on getting all the body panels painted, I had to fix a front fender. My initial plan was to shave all the side markers. Sometimes ago, I attempted to shave one. It didn't take long for me to realize shaving the markers was a bit beyond my skill level, without using a significant amount of filler. In trying to save some money, I salvaged a side marker mount from a rear fender that I am swapping out.
Welded-in. End result.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
The second thing I tackled this weekend was to paint the interior, a satin black. Finally, I was able to install some parts that I've had in boxes for almost seven years.
Mid-progress. Gauges test fit. Steering column installed.

Re: Rebuild...(pending a name)
The last thing for the weekend, I got the front fenders, doors, and cowl painted with epoxy.
Here is a view with the truck rolled out, getting ready to paint. A picture with all the panels painted. The paint is just epoxy, and it's glossy because it's wet. I ended up having a run on one of my doors, and there was a bit more dust this time. I guess that's what happens when you rush it. So I am going to wet sand tomorrow (Monday) and then spray the basecoat. I will also be getting my rear fenders. As much as I'd like to get those painted the same day, I don't think that will be likely.

Decided against the flat Dark Gray, and went with a Metallica Gray.
Here’s where I am right now. Full post and more pics soon. Just thought I’d post this real quick from my phone.
