Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

190 miles this week on the 66' maiden week. Haven't driven my 2012 GMC except for replacing the starter and highway dentist visit. Everyday to work so far.

Loving the 5.3L swap!

Soooo jealous. Can't wait to DD mine and take it to work, though parking in the City is going to be a nightmare . . .

Post up more vids whenever you get time.

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

may have grenaded the rear planetarys already on the 4L60e....

Making a bit of vibration in first and reverse.... havent checked mounts,u joints etc yet but.... pretty sure it sounds like 4L60e only took a handfull of heavy launches...

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

Vibrational issues ended up being due to an extremely dirty throttle body (the original 2004 silverado TB was never cleaned until I did it a few days ago...)

I gained another 130 RPM's at idle after the cleaning. (Which got rid of vibrations)

330 miles on the odometer so far since August 9th. (20 days ago)

Thing is a beast for a stock 5.3L with just long tubes and CAI

Tow/haul mode makes the go-go pedal even more fun.

No MPG calculations worth doing yet... way to much right foot spasms

LOL, I felt the same way about my son's '82 when we finished the swap. It was a 2000 LM& with 192,000 miles. Tons of fun to drive..

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

First full tank of D D duty returned 18.7 mpg.... Pretty good considering I was still "achieving maximum legal posted speed" at times at "accelerated rates". Will have NO issue breaking low-mid 20s simply by driving it like the boring 04' Silverado it came out of. (read: no fun)

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

Local late October Ribfest turned first annual car show.... low 60's in Wisconsin... this late in fall... unheard of.

No complaints...

110 miles on the 5.3L LSx swap today alone.... (really nice to stretch its legs today as the show/meat eater lunch was about an hour away).

Truck got pretty covered in manure overspray as their spreading on the fields right now.... (felt bad for all the 'good cars' that showed up)

MPG went out the window today... right foot spasms again all day long. (oops)

Flirting with that 1000 mile mark since I rolled it out mid August.
No trophy's or anything for the 66' C10... but I'm not one for trophies or even voting for that matter... Driving this hay hauler is the reward... the rest is just politics and how many voting friends you brought with

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

Glad to hear the DD status is agreeable. I've got about 1500 miles on mine since getting it out in July. Lot more fine tuning to do with a crate motor and aftermarket EFI than a swap, (i'll know better next time) but am loving every minute of the DD usage.

How is the performance compaired to your Silverado? Did you do anything to the engine or is it stock?

Trying to gauge if a cam swap is worth it when it comes time to installed my 5.3. Or just go straight to a turbo....

I just want you to know that your thread has cost me a lot of money! Great job on the swap by the way. I know all to well what the "dark side" of LS power feels like. Have fun with your truck you have knocked it out of the park. I burn out pic would be nice.......

Wish I had as nice of a truck as a jumping off point as you...

Looking forward to watching yours develop!

This forum as a whole has basically taken my wallet and thrown it in the toilet.

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

Well the end of another thread...

After the truck crash... I've bought the truck back from the insurance company.... got it running again now like a top (had a transmission safety NSS switch get wiggled lose from the impact.)

Sadly though... craigslist it is for this one.... hopefully someone wants an LS , gauges etc.....and can simply swap it all over to their still-in-tact C10..... complete one-time part out is in store unfortunately.

Sad... another one hits the scrap yard.
