Yeah your right about that, I don't even really worry about that stuff because it's 50 years old it's bound to have things in different places that arent right so I just gotta roll with the changes!

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''

LOL! I think your onto something... This cars been fighting me tooth and nail, I Go to pull the motor (seized, with no heads or oil pan for the past 30 years) and naturally since I can't rotate the crank, I can't get all the torque converter bolts... So I pull the bell housing and torque converter with the block, no big deal right? Ha! Wrong! I go to take the bell housing off with all the bolts off and it's solid on the block... So I start looking deep inside the bellhousing and that's when I see a bolt going from the transmission side into the motor... And to make it even better the bolt is about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches long and with only 1/2" of room before the head of the bolt makes contact with the torque converter which I still can't take off because the motor is solid! And there's some other things that aren't going smooth either... I think I'll call this car Christina!

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''

Well it's been awhile and the dodge has been on the back burner as I currently have the 59 coronet, a 73 GMC, 79 GMC, my 67, my 59 buick and my 1970 taco 22 minibike as projects but I did finally get another welder. So to break in the welder I decided to weld on the passenger "tailgate latch tab" on, not sure if I updated the thread about my purchase on the missing tailgate piece so incase I didnt, I bought the missing trunion and the missing latch tab that had broken off before I got the truck. So long story short the tailgate is finally fully functional. So now that I have a working welder I will be able to make some much needed progress on my sweptline!

The 79 gmc is going to be gone after tomorrow, going to do an oil change, and tidy some things up and then it's ready to be driven. slowly but surely I'm finishing my friends projects while doing a little work to my own here an there. Sometimes it's not the best feeling but Ive always got something to work on! lol

A '59 Buick? Would love to see some pics of that.
Good to see you back online. Wasn't sure if you were still out there (or the Dodge).

Yes sir a 1959 buick LeSabre, it's not a 2 door or a hardtop 4 door but it's still pretty cool and for some reason I actually wanted a 4 door cruiser car so it works out. Here's a picture

Darned lucky find there on that Buick. Years ago my Dad had a '60 LeSabre and that was a great car to drive.
Got T boned at an intersection in Phoenix (other driver ran a red light).
His was a white one with a blue interior.

Would love to find one in the same condition as yours.

Really enjoying your thread. Had an ex USAF d100 crewcab back in the mid 80's but had to sell it as it was classed as a HGV (heavy good vehicle) due to its size and unladen weight. Impossible to get insurance at the time so got scrapped for the Engine.

Have a real soft spot for the D100's since, look forward to your next update.

Haha the only trouble so to speak is bringing home another project! I'm sure guys on here must think I'm crazy or stupid, or maybe both! But as hard as it can be sometimes they'll get done, each of them are in different states of restoration or preservation so when one reaches a stopping/waiting point I simply switch off to the next vehicle I can make progress on until that one reaches a stopping/waiting point, but there certainly isn't any room for whatever it is that "normal" teenagers do these days lol

The 60 is also a very beautiful car, it's a lot easier on the eyes then the crazy pissed off look of the 59's that's for sure!

ah I'm sorry to hear about that, I'm wondering how it's going to be when I register this truck, a lot of people tell me to just register it as the factory 4wd 3/4 ton but if I'm not going to even have 4wd 3/4 ton running gear under it and won't be able to use that running hear them I certainly don't want to pay that extra 100 bucks for something I don't have every year lol so we'll see how it goes registering as a 2wd 1/2 ton.

As for updates on this truck, I've located a original in cut dash and the cool factory dash shifter with a really nice steering column from a 67 camper special that I'm planning to get for this truck, my hopes are to run a lol at shift cable from the dodge dash shifter to the (hopefully) 4L80e Trans and have a stock dodge appearing interior minus seat upholstery and maybe gauges as I might go with SW green line gauges., still need to get a motors/Trans and figure out how small I can make the transmission hump yet still have room with the automatic Trans, and then I can start getting the interior body work done and get the front and rear windows in. Lots of work to do but it's not very hard work. I'll keep you guys updated on it.

As for the buick I got a good running 350 motor and I have a good working th350trans to pair behind it and temporary install in the 59 buick to get it driving. Also sourced a 61 buick third member to ditch the Torque tube, now I just gotta see when the guy is going to pull it out of the car.

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''

Those are actually cold swept sides and are very rare trucks, it was dodges very cheap and quick way to have a fleetside as they used forward look wagon quarter panels. Forgot the year I believe it's 57 wagon quarter panels

Sweptsides are very cool.

So is the OP's crew cab.

Dodges are tough. there is very little aftermarket support. Most of the time the production numbers were behind International and Studebaker.

I have a '65 Town Wagon

Those town wagons are pretty uncommon/rare! I always wondered what it would be like if dodge didn't skin flint out on making a new body for the town wagon and used the 61-71 sweptline body just in a "suburban" or carry all style!

I've seen that one around, very nice truck, I was shocked to see someone actually took on building one let alone a crew cab! I know one thing that cost them quite a bit to restore/build compared to any other truck. Seeing sweptlines like that getting built makes me wonder if companies are going to start actually reproducing parts for these trucks. It's funny because the factory parts are kinda cheap or simply made so it shouldn't be too hard for companies to reproduce parts.

Well I have an update! I got that 67 parts truck! Pulled the dash, taillight housings, steering column out of it to use for the crew cab. Also yesterday I scored the deal of a lifetime! So I've been on a search for close to two years now for a 61-68 light duty rear bumper for the crew cab but of course just like everything they aren't reproduced and since the later 69-71 d100's which were more common to have the "light duty" bumper have a different styled bumper I didn't want to use those. I did find some of the early rear bumpers but they had crack smoking prices (I personally couldn't justify paying $350 bucks for a bent old chromed bumper) so I passed and waited.. And it finally paid off! Found one on a 68 adventurer! Asked the guy how much and he we agreed on $40 bucks, so I pulled it off and now I finally have a rear bumper. I had to throw it on to check it out
